The one-time poster boy for bail reform in New York is now wanted for attempted murder, the Daily News has learned.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Pedro Hernandez, 23, for an Aug. 28 shooting outside of St. Patrick’s Cathedral n Midtown Manhattan, police sources said.

Two groups of people were playing a card game under scaffolding on E. 50th St. near Madison Ave. when a fight broke out at 4:50 p.m., cops said.

One of the men won a gold chain in the game, but the loser was not happy about giving up the necklace, witnesses told The News. The angry man walked over to a Black BMW, grabbed a gun from inside and let off a single shot instead of forking over the jewelry, authorities said.

For those not familiar with NYC, this occurred in the fanciest business neighborhood in Manhattan. Tiffany's is a short stroll away from this incident.

So, “poster boy” can afford gold chains, BMW’s and playing poker at 4 in the afternoon?

Does he have a good job or just living large on government freebies?

Sure not the NYC I remember.

Even prior to Giuliani, there was some attempt at public safety and prosecuting criminals. The current Dem program is to unleash crime, not just be "soft" on it.

I am watching Hill Street Blues every afternoon

The Hill Street Precinct is one of several Metropolitan Police precincts. It represents the New York that is the present, the Post Rudy here and now. That which is good is repeatedly trod into the filth and grime of the reality on the streets

Hill Street Blues was part of the problem. They romanticize crime in a fashion. The suburbs are boring and white. Real people live on the edge in the inner cities. They never depict the real world consequences: children living in filth and squalor (despite generous government benefits), illiterate adults who can barely read, much less function adequately in an advanced civilization, addiction, death, violence.

Salman; I refer you to the late great H L Mencken (1880-1956); The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.

In this case, the problems are not imaginary, they are provoked by the diseased culture of LEFTism, especially as practiced in that hotbed of wealth & privilege as found in fractious NY City. If Niccolò Machiavelli could have observed that cesspool, his 'The Prince' (1532) would be even more epic!

Too many non-NYers “know” all there is to know about NYC. After all, they watched Seinfeld, Friends, Law & Order etc.

I left 20 years ago and admit that even after having spent the first 57 years of my life in Fun City, I know very little about today’s city. Hell, even the names of neighborhoods have been changed.

I’m sure the FBI would have been after him if they hadn’t been busy raiding homes of real criminals:
