That’s a good point. The Soviets were poorly led when Nazi Germany first invaded. And so they lost battle after battle. Then Georgy Zhukov appeared on the scene.
Putin might find himself another Zhukov. But he’s gonna have trouble with the motivation part.

In WW2, the Soviets suffered horrific levels of casualties, in the millions, before they trialed and errored their way to becoming a competent military force. And that was with an entire nation on full war footing to produce the relatively simple weapons and machines necessary to equip them.

In my opinion, he won the war for the USSR. Yet, after the war, the Soviets treated him almost as a pariah. When he was no longer useful to the regime, they for all intents and purposes “disappeared” him.

The Russians are invading Ukraine. A huge difference.
