Yes, I learned something here, by reading up on the 8.6 Blackout, apparently the high twist rate increases the stability of the projectile, but also significantly increases the ENERGY and striking power, using the same amount of propellant! That’s good news.

They are in the lab on this as we speak. The force delivered to the target includes the rotational force which has been disregarded in the past. With these incredible twist rates, that is being re-examined. Stay tuned.

The AK-12 is not well regarded by the AK community.

Not being up to speed on current AK manufacture, I did a little research, and found that you are correct, there is controversy and disappointment in the AK community regarding the AK-12.

It has renewed my interest in firearms and I will read up, even though I lost all my guns in an unfortunate boating accident.

I believe I can answer your comment now.

The AK design feature you seem to be addressing is the more pronounced taper, and slightly shorter overall length of the AK (7.62x39) case as compared to similarly purposed Western Designed Auto-Loading Rifles.

As I understand it, this feature, along with slightly looser chamber tolerances, allows easier and more certain extraction of the immediately expended case from the chamber of an auto-loading rifle under all rates of fire.

In short, it gives greater assurance of reliable function, even under adverse conditions.

If that was what your question was about, you already do have a correct understanding of that AK design feature.

Thank you for the answer. I am happy to know that what little information I am working with, is correct.

Without a foundation, whatever you build upon will collapse - that’s the important part.

You are quite welcome, actually your post helped me start getting up to speed in firearms subjects, I have not been paying attention for a while, so the Thanks goes to you too.
