Well, at least if it follows that track it won’t cause deadly landslides in Western NC, VA and Eastern KY. There have been hurricanes in the past that caused more deaths inland than on the coastline.

I hesitate to use the word “interesting” but it will be a bit interesting to see what Ian does to the northeast Florida coast around Jacksonville and St Augustine.

Jax has a sizable commercial seaport as well as Mayport Naval Station and busy rail connections coming from both Tampa, Orlando and Miami. I have to believe there’s some definite flood-prone areas where the St Johns River comes in from the Atlantic Ocean.

Saint Augustine is prone to flooding too - especially Saint Augustine Beach and the downtown area.
