Both of them have been NYC Democrats forever, despite "changing parties" when Trump ran for office. The other thing we forget is that Trump has always had a weak spot for Ivanka, his darling daughter. During his presidency, she had total access to the Oval Office.
My perception is that she doesn’t like her dad all that much and might even stoop to sabotage. Kids of divorced parents, right? They’re pretty good kids taken all together but there are bound to be some problems. I hope I’m wrong about her. When DT was first elected I sort of joined the throng saying Ivanka would make a good first female president but then realized she is kind of a ditz. Of course, ditz or not, she would be a patch on Carpet-Knees Kamala, who probably will end up being the first female president. (Do I sound bitter? Sorry!)
