They usually reveal things once they are obsolete - so maybe we are completing the transition away from piloted aircraft.
I believe its just political. Some a-hole politician thinks this will send a message or something stupid.
In the 80’s, we didnt “reveal” the F117 until it had been used in combat (Panama). The idea being why telegraph what we will use or do next time.
