Putin is a lot of things, a Communist isn’t one of them.

He would have served the Czar in the Okhrana, just as he served the KGB.

"Putin is a lot of things, a Communist isn’t one of them."

No, that assertion is unsupportable. You know I agree with 90% of what you say but here you are just wrong.

His father was NKVD! I mean, C'mon Man.

Putin joined CPSU nearly 50 freaking years ago. The KGB picked him up in law school; Andropov singled Putin out early for inculcation and that Soviet zombie's brief rule ensured Putin had a CPSU pathway to the top, even as the 'outsider'.

The key here is that Putin's Ozero group introduced him to kleptocracy, but as Putin was the one true believer in the group, and he needed those Ozero friends, he threaded the needle to FSB head at the precipice of the New Century ... then engineered the gravy train to the top, fueled solely by the rapid Soviet national resource consolidation unto Putin's Ozero friends and 'friends' once-removed.

It is as I have said elsewhere, as proof of this kleptocracy, Putin is feeding every possible military threat to his soon successor into the Ukrainian woodchipper, so that Gazprom and the rest are unmolested during the post-Putin transition.

Meanwhile, Putin suffers daily from chemobrain and debilitating cancer treatments. Schadenfreude.

“Putin is a lot of things, a Communist isn’t one of them.”

Putin is for Putin; his main allegiance is to Putin.

Well, technically, neither was Stalin. He was a tyrant in every sense of the word, but only took what he wanted, and didn’t share.

He used the proletariat like cogs and spindles. Thrown away as they were used up.
