Chile has been the most affluent country in Latin America since Communist Venezuela started collapsing in the early 2000s.
Cuba was the most affluent country in Latin America before Castro destroyed it in 1960.

This is not overwhelming in my opinion. Over 1/3 supported outright leftist ideas. Those people are the enemy.
