Former President Donald Trump has insisted that he immediately be re-installed as president or that a new election be called. His reasoning? A Mark Zuckerberg interview in which the Facebook founder reiterated his previous claim that the FBI warned him of a potential dump of Russian misinformation weeks before the 2020 general election that Trump lost to President Joe Biden.
Yes, the former president really did demand he be reinstated as president 664 days after losing the election. By any objective measure, it’s nuts. Batshit crazy.
Trump first made the bizarre demand on his fledgling social media platform Monday at midday, then “re-truthed” his comments at roughly 2 a.m. Tuesday:

We need to move on from Trump. He is not a smart man (anymore) and he has zero understanding of politics. He did well by us when he was in office but he is way too old now! DeSantis will take the baton and he is liked by way more people. He will win the popular vote as well as the electoral vote in 2024 i predict!

by ANY real objective measure, its not crazy to demand what you are owed. If you are owed $100 its not crazy to demand that it be paid to you. If you are owed a new car, its not crazy to demand that it be delivered. If you are owed whatever, anything, its not crazy to demand it be handed over.
IF you win an election and are somehow subsequently railroaded out of the position by UNLAWFUL means, which is certainly the case here, it is NOT crazy in the least to demand your elected position. Whats more, those who took the position from you should be punished to the fullest extent of the law for doing so- even if that means a death sentence for treason.
You’re uncomfortable because you haven’t accepted that he is the lawful president. The fraud is so obvious that the measures we use to monitor foreign nations elections for lawful outcomes were triggered. Its stubbornness, self-interest, or stupidity at this point to think he did not win.
The remedy should come from the state legislatures, and the courts of course. But few of those people have the courage to do the right thing.
That doesn't mean Trump or any of us should just shut up and not say what the state legislatures, and the courts should do.
And if Trump can't talk about the stolen election without it hurting him politically, then I don't see us winning anyway.

I realize this is a partisan, anti-Trump piece, but still, I feel very uncomfortable with President Trump’s own words,
They have their agenda no matter what Trump says. They want him to be silent and you too.

Exactly right. Unfortunately, it makes Trump look more batshit crazy. It plays well to the base (just read the comments on this thread), but it will drive Independents and maybe 4% to 5% of Republicans away.
He wouldn’t be Trump without crazy comments like this, though. It’s why so many people love him. But it’s also why so many absolutely hate him. If he had learned some basic statecraft and statesmanship, he could continue to hammer home the problems with elections, the lack of election integrity, the corruption of the FBI causing the election fraud, how Dems used COVID to steal the election, etc without veering off into unconstitutional area of calling for a new election.

Trump is an American Patriot, he has the best interest of the country in his heart, moreso than any politician out there.
Besides, he has some large scores to settle, and I, for one, want him to have the chance to do it.

I agree completely! The more we complain, the greater the chance that the GOP will actually wake up and do something about election fraud (that’s a long shot, I know).
But our complaints must be consistent and sensible. If our side says 100 reasonable things and one goofy thing, you can bet the lapdog media will focus entirely one that one goofy thing. Let’s not give them that one goofy thing.
