Wanna buy whipped cream? Be prepared to show I.D.

New York law went into effect last year but enforcement has just begun recently at some Capital Region stores

Be prepared to show your ID at the grocery checkout if you want to buy whipped cream in a canister.

In New York, the popular dessert topping has joined alcohol and tobacco products on the list of items age-restricted for purchase to those 21 and older, and proof of age is now required at the point of sale.

The chargers that propel whipped cream through a canister nozzle are filled with nitrous oxide gas, which can be inhaled to produce a high. The inhalant has long been a popular recreational drug – called "whippets" – among teenagers due to the availability of whipped cream canisters at grocery and convenience stores.

Because of this, the state prohibited the sale of whipped cream chargers to those under the age of 21 last November. The chargers themselves can be purchased for use in refillable whipped cream dispensers, but most people likely will notice enforcement of the law when they buy whipped cream packaged in a canister.

The legislation was passed after being sponsored by Sen. Joseph Addabbo (D-Queens) who emphasized the dangers of recreational use of nitrous oxide, also known as "laughing gas," after seeing the effect of the inhalant in neighborhoods throughout his district.

“Sadly, young people buy and inhale this gas to get ‘high’ because they mistakenly believe it is a ‘safe’ substance. This law will eliminate easy access to this dangerous substance for our youth,” Addabbo said in a provided statement.

While the bill was signed into effect almost a year ago, signs stating the restriction and I.D. checks have only recently popped up in the Capital Region. The lag is likely due to an issue with the tracking of the law, according to Kent Sopris, president of the New York Association of Convenience Stores.

Sopris said he became aware of the law's enactment about two months ago and immediately let members know so they could begin enforcing it at stores.

When whipped cream is outlawed, only outlaws will whip cream.

If you buy carb or fuel injector cleaner at Walmart and similiar from the automotive section the clerk will be summoned to check your ID when it is run through the scanner. Apparently, it is used to make meth I guess.

Cannot even buy Mucinex a mucus thinner derived from a tree root yielding guafanesen without waiting for someone to age verify you.

So everyone must pay the penalty for the crimes of the few. Not a good way to run a country. But it’s what they do. Every time. They want to take guns from the non-violent people but leave them in the hands of the violent ones. They subject us all to intrusive searches at airports because of what a few did.

Never fails. We always give up freedoms in order to get “security.”

Easy fix. Don’t buy it, just walk out with it.

The state isn’t going to stop you. At worst, you’d maybe get a summons for shoplifting.

Deep six it and don’t go to that either.

Whippits are wasted on dirty stinking hippies. N2O highs are mostly due to hypoxia when dirty stinking hippies fill baloons with pure N2O. In order to properly do it, it needs to be enriched with pure O2 and CO2 scrubbed out in which case it can approach DMT level dream states for short periods especially when done in conjunction with psilocybin, not that I have ever done that out in the desert or anything

Did Democrats that control the New York State Legislature create a law that requires anyone who wants to buy bath salts, to produce an ID? New York State outlawed the sale of certain bath salt products back in 2012, but as far as I know, they never required you to show an ID to purchase them, before those products were banned, nor afterward.

You don't have to provide an ID to vote, but you do if you want to buy a can of whipped cream. That's Democrat logic. They want to control who can buy whipped cream by your age, but they don't want to control at what age you can get an abortion. They also want to make sure that parents of minors don't have the right to know before your child gets an abortion, or undergoes sex reassignment therapy. But those same kids can't buy a can of whipped cream, buy a pack of cigarettes, or a can of beer, even though abortions and sex reassignment therapy are just as destructive as sniffing nitrous oxide.

Personally, if someone wants to snort coke, use fentanyl, or inhale nitrous oxide, I say let them go ahead. The people who practice those habits regularly, aren't worth the powder to blow them up to begin with. They are likely liberals who have no worth, and aren't contributing anything positive to this country anyway. I've lived in NY State for 75 years. It's people like State Moron Senator Yabba-Dabba-Doo (Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr.), and State Assembly Moron Stacey Pheffer Amato, who are responsible for this Bill:

My sister bought that album when it was released. She also bought the first stereo console record player for the family. We liked the same music. When she passed, I ended up with all her CDs that I burned to a USB stick to listen to in my car. Wish she’d kept all her vinyls.
