I agree with your conclusion. Regardless of where you stand on the abortion issue the Republicans did themselves no favors by how they handled the court decision. The states that rushed to ban abortions or severely limit them with no or minimum constituent input caused them selves and the party problems.

A much better approach would have been to actually have hearings, actually talk to their voters, from all sides, and then produce legislation based on that. As it stands given how it was handled in many states they caused people who might not have been paying attention to feel they were not listened to or were ignored. Now the results will be felt when the fall elections happen and unfortunately the Republicans may not gain any seats, or not as many as they could have, given this issue.

I attended a precinct meeting this last weekend so I could get involved in supporting some Republican candidates. There were folks from both sides of the issue and one person was telling us that they have heard people calling those who were celebrating the anti-abortion laws were being called christian taliban. If the Democrats latch onto something like that I fear it will further cause voters to NOT support any Republican or conservative candidates. When people in a very red state are saying maybe it’s time for Trump to step back then you know there is growing concern among the rank and file. Despite the claim that there are all of these millions of voters backing Trump it may be some of his earlier supporters are considering not backing him for another run.

And given the latest uproar over Trump and his documents I fear people are growing tired of the spectacle and will not give the Republican party the sweeping victory they were so sure of just 6 months ago.

This is just my opinion based on an admittedly small sample of voters that I have interacted with..but it is concerning.

So they want a depression and the IRStapo instead. All so I they can kill a baby. Or mutilate/chemically poison their child who doesn’t know what sex/animal/inanimate device they are that day.
