Democrats channel abortion anger into swing district success, raising questions about Republican 'red wave'

(CNN)The US Supreme Court decision wiping out federal abortion rights was only a few hours old when, in Washington, a group of Democratic lawmakers stood on the steps of the US Capitol singing "God Bless America."

In upstate New York, though, Democrat Pat Ryan and his campaign team were scrambling to deliver a more potent reply, posting online an ad they had filmed shortly after the court's draft opinion had leaked weeks earlier. The appeal began like so many others, with a note on the Ulster County executive's personal history: two tours in Iraq fighting "for our families, for our freedom." But the spot then pivoted, the music speeding up.

"How can we be a free country?" Ryan asked, "if the government tries to control women's bodies? That's not the country I fought to defend." The Ryan campaign's quick messaging, delivered as abortion rights supporters filled the streets, came nearly two months to the day that he would defeat Republican Marc Molinaro, the moderate executive from neighboring Dutchess County, in a special election that attracted national attention. The result provided the clearest evidence yet that abortion rights are a powerful motivator for voters -- both Democrats and, potentially, some moderate Republicans -- ahead of the midterm elections.

Pretty stupid to vote for a US Congresses representative when abortion is a state matter and is legislated by your state legislative representation.

Criminal News Network has decided fantasy is a good smokescreen for a crooked voting system.

My take is the dems will abort themselves legally, or illegally. If we put our baby saving money towards helping families instead of lining the prolife lobbyist pockets, then money goes to real help instead of legislation.
We will also then pick independent votes because for some reason the vote to keep abortion even if they won’t have one. We lose votes otherwise.

I just looked at Real Clear Politics, specifically, the House Projections:

Democrats: 182
Republicans: 219
Toss Ups: 34

Needed to control House: 218

even if Republicans lose all Toss ups, Pelosi gets tossed out.

The media got their marching orders and are colluding- third story today on this trash. I’m in the craphole known as NY.

For the record:

1- the rat who won the special election replaced another rat. The seat was held by the rats, not flipped.

2- the November election in this district will entail the redrawn map which favor the GOP.

3- the Republican who ran, Marc Molinaro, is a piss poor RINO candidate who announced he did not vote for Donald Trump in 2016. Unfortunately he’ll be on the ticket in November.

The Dobbs decision will unfortunately put the issue of abortion/choice on the ballot in November. You cannot just take away a half century old perceived right without consequence.

My prediction is that the red wave will now be barely a trickle. I hope I’m wrong.

I so want there to be a huge red tsunami.

That said, you cannot dismiss this line of attack. It worked for them here. It will work elsewhere.

Every seat we do not take reduces the wave. Every seat we lose reduces the wave.

Pubbies better have a good retort or overwhelming attack. I look at my district with a NaziP wannabe dumble rep who is going to be tough to beat because over 50% of the electorate are idiots.

Thats reality. Denigrating it or poo-pooing it doesn’t make it less a problem. Toss in some vote fraud and the red wave is a pink trickle.

Republicans are too weak to fight back. Show partial birth abortions and see how well they will do. Heck, even use the new 4D sonograms and say this baby is what is being killed, not a fetus. Then mention for every 1 rape, health, or incest abortion 1,000s of more babies are brutally killed.

Exactly, how many years have they done this to us? It was all exposed when Trump ran and his rallies gathered so many supporters and Biden’s look liked desolate.

If you are right it is because Republicans are being the gutless cowards they always are.

I can only think of three reasons the media is suddenly on this "Yeah Democrats are winning!" message when every midterm election in the last century points to just the opposite:

1. They hope if they can fire up enough democrat voters and discourage enough Republican voters maybe it will go from a wave election to just a standard bad year for the party in power.

2. The are trying to provide back cover for when the democrat vote fraud machine kicks into action and saves democrats. They can say, "No fraud, nothing to see here, we predicted it way back in August."

3. Voters genuinely are that stupid, and don't care about 10% inflation and $5 gas, as long as democrats promise to protect their ability to kill babies or hire 87,000 new IRS agents or tax carbon or whatever.
