But of course one can go to Nevada to buy whatever and drive it back to California?
Can I achieve the same thing by hanging a potted plant from my tailpipe?
Well thank Goodness they built that rail system on time and on budget.
I watched a piece on the electric grid problems in China. China heavily subsidizes EV purchases and the majority of cars in some areas are EV’s. The problem is the cars have contributed to multiple grid crashes. The grid is now woefully undersized for the extra power drain. So, they have rolling blackouts.
Lots of municipalities in California rely on sales tax proceeds. This is going to bite if people go to Nevada or Oregon and buy cars there.
Oh boy! If you live in California, the value of your gas-powered used car just doubled!
The exodus from California will continue.......
Insane.
Better than 1/3 of new cars sold have to be electric in 2026. Good luck with that. Of course, being as how current gas/diesel vehicle sales are sparse, it may actually happen.
Not a good time to own a gas station.
Yeah, that’s gonna work out real well with the massive illegal Mexican population who love to work on their gasoline-powered cars.
BREAKING NEWS! There is no such thing as ZEEEE-ROE emissions.
Gee 33.6% of electricity in California is generated by renewable sources. So does where the electricity comes from count?
The exodus out of California will accelerate.
Jay Leno... Empty your garage,,, buy a volt in solidarity with your fellow Californians. /s
I see an increase in car theft
A perfect way to keep you on a short leash.
For the middle class/poor, you get a government subsidy where you too can buy an electric car with a high output Maytag electric motor!
LA striving for the Havana look.
How long until California auto situation looks like Cuba, with so much effort is made to keep useful autos on the road. I am not sure how this shakes out, but new and used ICE prices must go up as there will more demand then the allowed supply and BEV are still in very limited supply and most models are also having rising prices. Probably would have reduced emissions more had they focused on removing autos 15 or more years old yet still be driven at least 8K miles per year. Instead of paying poorer people to replace their high emissions cars we take that money and subsidize wealthy to buy BEV. Makes perfect sense.
Just wow....and given the state of their electrical grid they’re on a fast track to brown outs all the time. Thousands of EV’s now to drain the grid at super speeds. They probably think A/C units were a problem. Just wait...
Only the upper classes can afford these vehicles too. This is a huge middle finger to the middle class. They’re just creating a State of haves and have-nots.
