People are going to make bad life choices. I happen to be in favor of a social safety net, but am not so naive to believe that everyone can be immunized against everything. Anecdotes like this are peddled only because they can be useful to an agenda. The radical left in pursuit of social revolution has never hesitated to crush the poor.
