Europe's worst drought in years has pushed the mighty river Danube to one of its lowest levels in almost a century, exposing the hulks of dozens of explosives-laden German warships sunk during World War Two near Serbia's river port town of Prahovo.
Been there, done that! One of my favorite childhood memories!
I donβt remember having to walk so far across-I remember it being narrower.
It was pretty cool!
Thanks for posting that!π
Been there done that. Many times.
(Grew up not far from there....)
That is a common question on Jeopardy. Where does the Mississippi start??
π
God’s country!
For a very long time as evidenced by that forested shore line on the other side of the river.
More information: At its deepest point, the Danube River is about 26.25 feet deep, while at its shallowest, it reaches a depth of approximately 2 feet. At its widest point, the river has about 4,921 feet between each bank.
It travels from western Germany to the Black Sea along nine countries: Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine.
#17 I have been there in Minnesota. I was on the left side there. The lake is the upper part of the photo and river which is just a stream from there starts at the rocks.
You park your car and walk down a path and see those rocks. You can also turn to the right down a path and then go across a bridge to the other side.
