She’s so cringe that I’m amazed that even Massachusetts will elect her.

“Everyone” would have voted for her? Reminds me of the film critic Pauline Kael who in 1972 predicted a McGovern landslide over Nixon bc “I don’t know anybody who voted for Nixon”. And I suppose in her rarefied world of arts types, trustfund babies, “journalists”, and academics on NYC’s Upper West Side, she was probably right.

All it takes is putting a ‘D’ after a name in Mass.

One possible reason is that the very deep seated Boston area racism long discussed in the old media, convinced many Republicans to switch to the ‘Rat’ Party because of the long time inherent policies of the Democrats. Boston was for a very long period a major city of the USA with a rather insignificant minority population. This changed radically following the Johnson Administration government largess programs, heartily embraced by Massachusetts Democrat Politicians.

The early 1970s federal intrusion and implementation of forced bussing initiated a ‘white flight’ from Boston and an incredible blight appeared on once thriving neighborhoods, and the Boston Public Schools were forever blemished with incompetence and ineffective methods for educating the ‘newer residents.’ I lived through much of it and we never fled the city. We attended those schools and endured a lot more than people will ever know about.

LBJ himself fought against Civil Rights for many years until one day, somebody wised him up to the advantages of long term political clout by embracing categories of people which he blatantly subdued in education and virtually every other aspect of our society.

In those days, Republicans (1940s-early1960s) were at least as weak and ineffective as they are today.
