I thought the bill Manchin signed on to had already been reconciled between the House and Senate. That’s not true?

If it’s not, the ‘fossil fuel and nuclear development’ sections Manchin wanted so could back the bill. His fellow Rats remove that now he looks like an even bigger fool!

What Manchin really wanted was tax dollars into miner’s pensions, also no time limit for black lung declaration and care. Make it all independent of production so the Rats can kill off coal mining and not harm pensions & black lung care. A little UMW payoff there.

I’ve felt this way my entire voting life. It is why, since first registering to vote in 1966, I’ve always been an independent (non-aligned) voter.
Living in NYC, there was no way I would back the Democrats and after seeing the corruption in the GOP first hand (both parents were active registered Republicans. Mom was an officer in the neighborhood Rep. Club...until she couldn’t take it any more) I was not going to join with them. Thus, I became an independent.

They already voted on Friday. The Senate passed it under reconciliation so they avoided the filibuster.

The House voted 220-207, with no Republicans joining democrats in supporting the act. 4 Republicans didn’t vote—sick or something.

It now sits on Bidenn’s desk awaiting his scrawly X.

Yes. That's what I thought. Did Manchin fall for "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today?"

Your spirits must be just fine because your post was great. I don’t watch cooking shows or reality shows, but I’ve seen some home renovation ones, and see see a promo for the one you cited. I hope the large lady doesn’t pretend she’s a real hammer and saw wielder. That pretty stick lady named Christina drives me nuts. She has an ad out about a Jaccuzi? that you can install? at a price you can afford? In your bathroom? In the style? you’ve always loved?

Your dad sounds like the real deal recycler. Please tell me that you didn’t have a rear-tractor-tire flower bed in the yard.

When I was a kid-young teen, my parents were all democrats and my older hippie siblings convinced me to be like them.

After Saigon fell, and the murders began, I asked where was the protest?

They said—not our concern man, pass the dutchie...

I voted for Reagan in the 76 primary and then joined the military. Never looked back.

But they haven't passed Manchin's side deal, which must have a separate vote outside reconciliation. Expect it to be folded into the Omnibus funding bill in September.

Schumer has said he expects the Senate to vote this week or next on the energy and climate bill, while the permitting overhaul will be folded into a government funding package next month.

Tying the permitting overhaul legislation to the must-pass government funding package is a “pretty good political calculus” on the part of the Democratic leadership, said Kelly Johnson, a partner at Holland and Hart and a former senior counsel to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

“If you think about the politics of September, no one wants to go into an election with a government shutdown,” said Johnson, who also worked at the Justice Department during the George W. Bush administration.

Johnson said that while a permitting overhaul bill could lose the support of some progressive Democrats, Manchin might be able to entice some Republicans to sign onto it, especially if it could benefit projects in their states. “I would be surprised if they can’t cut a deal,” she said.

Manchin ‘Side Deal’ is a Climate Disaster-- Fossil fuel fast-tracking will erase climate gains

Bloomberg published a copy of draft language for the ‘permitting reform’ bill that Senator Joe Manchin demanded in order to support the Inflation Reduction Act.

The proposal aims to fast track a variety of environmental and public safety reviews for major infrastructure projects, and requires the President to create a list of at least 25 projects deemed to be of “strategic national importance” that would be subject to the review. The list would be updated every six months.

The draft requires that at least five of the priority items “shall be projects to produce, process, transport, or store fossil fuel products, or biofuels, including projects to export or import those products.” Two of the priority projects should be devoted to the “capture, transport, or store carbon dioxide, which may include the utilization of captured or displaced carbon dioxide emissions.” This fossil fuel prioritization continues well past 2030, requiring at least three projects to be fossil fuel oriented while allowing greater discretion to add more to the priority list.

Bloomberg reports that that the document includes a “Draft-API” watermark, which could be a reference to the oil and gas lobbying group that had discussions with Manchin’s staff at the time it was drafted.

In response, Food & Water Watch Policy Director Jim Walsh released the following statement:

“This should no longer be considered a ‘side deal,’ it is the main event for fossil fuel polluters that have pushed to weaken environmental reviews. The draft requires a constantly updated list of projects that will be placed on the fast track, limiting public input and necessary environmental review. Any future White House that seeks to do special favors for the fossil fuel industry would have broad executive authority to force the construction of new fracking pipelines, power plants and methane export facilities. It would also hamstring the White House in efforts to curtail new fossil fuel infrastructure development sufficient to meet agreed upon climate goals.

“Creating new wind and solar tax credits while giving fossil fuel polluters a green light is the ultimate devil’s bargain. Lawmakers must speak up strongly and swiftly against this massive rollback of public health and environmental protections that will fast track fossil fuel projects.”

See my post #108. Rumor has it Manchin said to Schumer that if you don’t pass the side deal, he will switch and caucus with the Reps thus giving the Turtle control over the Senate. .

In fact I think we did have stuff made out of tractor parts.

Dad bought the farm from his brother and a tractor (HAND CRANKED TO START) came with it.

Then my sister drove it up a tree!

Thanks for the compliment.

I am feeling a lot better.

I am afraid the Reps will help pass it. No Rep should vote for it. Make the Dems pass it. If not, then Manchin can hang on his own petard. Manchin helped pass the disastrous Climate bill. He should rot in Hell.

Trump has backups not seized and will release at appropriate time

Hopefully, he let them "seize" the photocopies.
