Been there several times through many years.
Never again.
I would sell or destroy my rental units within seconds if this passed.
Yeah, that law will increase the availability and cost of rentals. [/s]
More likely landlords will start charging even higher rents, demand prohibitive deposits or just stop renting their properties altogether.
That will help. Criminals.
But at least the Libs would FEEL like they did something positive.
We’re way past living in Bizarro World and entering the Twilight Zone, way past.
Slouching towards Gomorrah. The new NYC slogan.
Send ALL the illegal immigrants to New York City.
They’d do a much better job managing the city than the current lunatics.
Why not? Things couldn’t get worse, could they?
Thus it follows that "people of color" are statistically People of Crime. Who knew???
Trying to drive out people from being landlords.
One could drive a truck through the premise that POC are being discriminated against when they are 80% of the people with criminal records.
While the left is always claiming that their laws and regulations will help these people, it is the opposite. After getting forced by government to allow their properties to be wrecked and suffer indefinite periods of no rental payment - all with no compensation, they give up and get out of the landlord business resulting in even fewer available rental properties.
Are any of these areas still requiring a rent payment moratorium? Did the city give the property owners a moratorium on property taxes? Insurance? Did the city offer to pay maintenance costs to these landlords while they restricted them from colleting rent?
The government tells you that you have no say in whom occupies your property AND tells you these occupants don’t have to pay you either.
So much for the locked door downstairs.
Already done in Seattle plus they can’t check credit scores.
Which color?
As a freeper once suggested, let the City Council members do it in their own buildings first, to see how well it turns out.
They’ve found a way to make private property community property. Force you to rent to criminals who will not pay but will trash the place and steal from the other tenants. And you get sued for that.
Here they go again - the buck will always count ahead of the safety of the community.
Laws passed by people who don’t own rental property to tell people who risk an investment on who they can or can’t rent to.
