Ford is increasing the starting prices of its electric F-150 Lightning truck by as much as $8,500 due to “significant material cost increases and other factors.”
CNBC reports that Ford said on Tuesday that it would be increasing the starting prices of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck due to “significant material cost increases and other factors.” The automaker said that the price increases, which are between $6,000 and $8,500, will not impact customers who have already ordered the vehicle and are awaiting delivery. President Joe Biden infamously test drove an electric F-150 in 2021. Biden shared his opinion on the truck, saying ““This sucker’s quick.”

it won’t qualify for the rebate before or after.. to expensive.
honestly it sounds like the rats rebate hardly applies to any EVs.
Size of the battery pack.
The battery cost is typically a YUGE percentage of the vehicle cost.
Biden’s giving folks who can afford $60,000 for a car a big tax break for buying electric. Must be nice to have that much extra money to get ‘help’ from Taxpayers... Corrupt white liberal ‘elites’ in DC take care of their own.
I constantly see Camrys going through the auction north of 300K..
hell the onion had a piece about Toyota recalling the damn things because “you should have bought a new car by now” a decade ago..
Hmmm…about as much as the tax rebate.
Coincidence? I think not.
New requirements include that the cars must be assembled in North America and that materials and “critical minerals” in the battery must come from the US or a country with a free trade agreement with the US.
if memory serves me right.. China controls all of the cobalt.
You mean the battery that will absolutely have to be replaced eventually at the cost of no telling how many more thousands of dollars......THAT battery?
As the consumer gets wise about these things, there will be a lot of money being made diagnosing how much life remains in a used car battery because it will have a large impact on the remaining value of the vehicle.
I will buy this electric F-150 with my subsidy of $7,500
I am short the rest so I will drive the truck around a while telling everyone how cool it is then default on the loan and have it repo’d....
Hippie Dippies: No mining in the US for the battery elements!
A recent test had the EV Ford F150 pull a small RV trailer 83 miles before running out of ga...err...electrons.
So you get a Fox News report at the charging station? Cool...
Not much real effect ... just pimps and broke-back cowboys will be affected.
“The 2023 F-150 Lightning will now range from $47,000 to $97,000”
I’m rebuilding a 1948 Chevy 3/4 ton. Will have a 420 HP 350/5.7L, a 4 speed automatic 700 R4, and yes, disc breaks. Total cost will be about $16,000 and yes it will be Highway geared.
I guarantee it will still be on the road 100 years from now.
Better than cnn......barely
Nice! 👍
