Colorado is one of the most dangerous states for police officers

Colorado is not the deadliest state for police, but police are more likely to be assaulted and injured here than in most states.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says says a deputy, woman and suspect are dead after a shooting Sunday. Deputy Andrew Peery, 39, was shot. Another deputy and officer returned gunfire until additional officers and deputies arrived on the scene. They immediately tried to save Peery’s life, but by around 8 p.m., EPSO said that Peery had been killed in the line of duty.

This marks the first felonious killing of a Colorado police officer this year. Historically, officer killings are uncommon. There has been an average of one per year since 2001.

In any given year of the last 20, Colorado has never had more than three police officers killed by gunfire in the line of duty. Last year there were two, which broke a two-year stretch when there were no line-of-duty officer killings statewide.

There were three killings in 2006. All of the other 20 years had either none, one or two. Per capita, Colorado’s rate of officer killings is the 21st-highest, right in line with its population ranking.

While killings are not more common in Colorado than in other higher-population states, assaults are much more common.

Since 2011, there has been a total of 35 officers assaulted and injured in the line of duty in Colorado. This is the nation’s ninth-highest total.

It is also the nation’s fifth-highest rate, with an average of 6.5 officers injured by assault per 1 million population. Only Alaska, Missouri, Oklahoma and Wyoming have higher rates.

It seems to me that this is white druggies and meth heads shooting at the Colorado police. No blacks are involved. Not many live in Colorado anyway.

How do they define this? If a criminal deliberately shoots a police officer that’s not an accident is it?

Same in my state. We have always been quirky, but we used to be blue collar quirky. Now the California’s and all the rest of the undesirables from all over the nation come here for the legal hard drugs and generous welfare benefits.

I remember when I first moved to Seattle from New Orleans in 1978, before the influx of commie Kalifornia residents started coming, Seattle and the 3 county area called Pugetopolis was in trouble. All kinds of drug vagrants were flooding the area because of the very generous welfare.

Hell, there were financial incentives to being an addict/alcoholic. Declare yourself an alkie and the welfare folks added $500 to your already bigger than any other states monthly benefits check! Remember, this was in 1978, 500 bucks added to your rent benefits, food, utility vouchers and medical benefits and of course we would be negligent if we didn’t include aid to dependent children money all these grifters were entitled to, and you could easily pull down 2k monthly!

Then when Boeing/McDonnell Douglas merged, MicroSatan, Amazon were founded, then the real scum of the planet, (devoted leftards), started migrating into the Pugetopolis area and I moved outta there to a small coastal city away from the insanity.

I have seen and lived the destruction of unchecked liberal migration and it is like the Black Plague that devastated Europe. My heart aches for the residents of Colorado knowing what has happened here.

We are on the mend however, the DJT America First people are making headway, even here. Last night turncoat assistant dimocRAT congresswoman Jamie Herrera Beutler, who voted to impeach DJT, the second time lost her seat in the primary to a DJT endorsed warrior Joe Kent.

That race was exceptional. Kevin McCarthy’s PAC, and a host of other liberal entities flooded the zone with over 30 million dollars worth of hit pieces against Joe Kent. We are a total mail in ballot state, conservatives in that district held their ballots until Election Day when they actually went and hand delivered their ballots.

That delay, made it look like the GOPe and other liberal groups had prevailed on primary election night. However the next day after the primary when candidate Kent was in 3rd place, the conservative ballot tally started going Joe’s way and he came across the finish line victorious. Another vote against McCarthy as house leader!

I have been advocating getting involved, be a PCO, volunteer as a ballot watcher and people are listening and even here behind the Blue Cascade Curtain, we can beat these commie bastards. Time is now to work even harder “organizing”. I refuse to be beaten by the likes of todays leftards.

“Weed has been LEGAL for how long now? Coincidence??”

Legalize weed and tax it to death, making it super expensive, means illegal marijuana sales will go through the roof. This happens in all states that legalize it. Legalizing weed creates an atmosphere where consumption of all illegal drugs is OK and will go up. Meth, oxy, heroin and so on.

Legalizing marijuana is another great libertarian fail. Same as their older open borders policies, which most libertarians have enough common sense to reject these days.

You hit the nail on the head. my daughter moved to Denver in 2016. CO had recently legalized pot but it wasn’t in effect yet. I’m not a big-city guy, but Denver was clean, quiet, people were friendly. Very few ‘street people’ around in ‘normal areas’. I was told at the time Denver had shit-areas like any other city, but there was no reason to go there. I said at the time they’d be sorry. I go once or twice a year to visit and the degradation became obvious after only a year or two. Last few years it’s been deteriorating exponentially. It’s on it’s way to a third-world hellhole like all lib cities.

Every other car has California, New York or New Jersey tags. I saw a man at the Vitamin Cottage yesterday with a beard, a ponytail, carrying a baby in a chest sling and wearing a freaking dress!

I live in New England...so I’m used to these leftists.

Yeah, but the bootlickers want you to think they 'put their lives on the line' every day.
