the official republican response, endorsed by every republican in office, should be immediate and forceful.
i don’t see this as being the last shot but just the first shot, which means that they already have a cannon lined up for the next round. imho that is likely to be an indictment and arrest.
if an indictment and arrest happens it will be in the next hours. DC leadership would be buzzing about it. and a DC buzz, sadly, would probably be enough to keep the republican leadership from backing trump publicly, since trump is a disruptive threat to the corrupt entrenched deep state, and they don’t know how it will all play out (yet).

At the time of my post Cancun Cruz had not released his Twitter Statement.
The FR thread on Cruz’s remarks had #1 post time stamped 11:30PM, but its source line said 11:13PM and clicking on the source showed Twitter had time stamped Cruz’s first tweet 10:13PM. You said, in #219 you’d made ‘your comment’ ie. #54 but FR had time stamped that at 8:34PM. My reply #215 didn’t get get to FR until 12:15AM. Some of differences likely represents thinking based on different time zones. I’m confident the automatic time stamps provided by FR and internally consistent and thus useful for comparing relative times. To me they stated in my, Central, time zone. I wouldn’t be surprised if JohnRob had designed FR so times are presented to each user normalized to their local time zone Freepers sited elsewhere would might read times 1 or more hours different. The FR source line time is manually supplied by the poster. Whether the hour between it and twitter reflect different time zone bases or a simple typo I’m unsure. The point of this post is that social media posts are often somewhat stretched out over time. Although some of a conversation will appear quickly, some parts of the same conversation maybe delayed a couple hours. Cruz wasn’t the quickest, but was quick enough to be considered part of the same, evolving conversation. Whether or not one liked his take. This post is better considered a separate conversation about the former.
