its too much of a sentence By American standards.
But it wasn't smuggling drugs into the US and it was not it's first trip to Russia. It has been making Big$$ playing BBall there for some time. Headline from Yahoo News: "Brittney Griner ‘only playing’ in Russia due to gender pay gap, says US teammates".
It knew Russian law. It just thought it was above the law there like it is here; Privileged", you might say.

Hey People! She was smuggling drugs. She broke the law, knowingly. Her problem not ours.
In China she would get the death penalty
I’m not going to war over someone’s idiotic drug habits.

Guess they never saw the movie “White Nights.”At the end, the Gregory Hines character wants to come home, but is kept in Russia. The KGB characters take him at night to a forest where he believes he will be executed. He is told to walk while guards are present. At some point lights come on and prisoners are exchanged.

In RODINA prisons do not have courts, they have quarries where you make very large rocks into very small rocks!

Hi Bill.
Good point.
Remember that some laws are international and fall under certain treaties.
Arms, biological weapons extradition, admiralty law, etc.
Between you and me this guy (Bout) is small fish. The Mossad wasn’t even interested.
I don’t like Griner personally or her stance on BLM, Cops or anything regarding her politics, but “she” is not a threat to Russia.
