Half of U.S.-Made HIMARS in Ukraine Destroyed, Russia Says

Russia has said its forces have destroyed two U.S.-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, also known as HIMARS, in Ukraine.

The number adds to the four HIMARS launchers that Russia claimed to have destroyed over a two-week period in July.

A "high-precision" strike in Kharkiv took out the systems and killed 53 people, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov, a spokesperson for the Russian defense ministry, said in an announcement on Monday, according to Russian state news agency TASS.

"As a result of a high-precision strike in the city of Kharkiv, on the territory of the Ukrainian Energy Machines plant, two American launchers of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems were destroyed," Konashenkov said. "53 Ukrainian nationalists and foreign mercenaries were also destroyed."

If 2 are destroyed and at least one sold off how many are left?

Is this a multiple choice question?

—> The US military, which I’m sure can track the HIMARS in Ukraine, says none have been destroyed.

Our woke military leaders also engage in propaganda.

We have specific units devoted to this.

The USA does this domestically and internationally.

With what? Russia lacks air superiority.

Himars is just another FMTV accessory kit, it really doesn’t need roads.

Anybody remember the problem the Coalition had during ODS finding Saddam’s SCUD launchers? A SCUD launcher is much bigger than a HIMARS. And doesn’t move around nearly as much. And Iraq doesn’t have much tree cover. And we still couldn’t find the damn things. But the Russians are finding highly mobile HIMARS with ease? I laugh.

Thank you. I’m not a ‘brother of the dolphin’ but I share the heartfelt sentiment.

same thing with the Russian soldiers killed, captured or missing at Kursk?

more Russian killed, captured or missing, than Germans, in this great victory for Russia.

We have seen this again and again. Arabs using Russian equipment and tactics, massively outnumbering the Israelis. In the first couple wars, also having more modern tanks.

Then, kablooey!

Russia in Afghanistan fighting Mujahideen armed only with shoulder-first anti-tank weapons; and, Syria fighting rebels also armed only with infantry anti-tank weapons.

No, kablooey, but long wars of attrition.

Russian equipment and tactics are well suited to the poorly-educated soldiers that Russia produces. Why make a tank with an expected service life (when not in combat) or more than a few months?

Yes, Russia reclaimed and rebuilt some of their tanks. But Russian losses of T34s were enormous. Not including 1942, Russia had four or more times as many tanks as Germany, but losses were something like 2 Russian-to-1 German.

Today, we can add unmotivated to poorly-educated.

And where is the cannon fodder coming from. Hardly from Moscow or St. Petersburg. No, the combat casualties of Russia are from the rural places.

During WWII, Russia was able to focus on production of weapons, and to press the rural peasants into its army, because we, the US, supplied it with trucks, fuel, and food.

When Russians admit this, which they seldom do, they say we, the U.S., had the easier job. This is correct. And, we Americans should honor the capacity of the Russian people to suffer.

In a great irony of history, it took a ruthless man (Stalin) to defeat another ruthless man (Hitler), backed by the resources of two countries each much larger than Germany.

A similar thing is happening today, except that the mix of what we’re providing Ukraine is different from the mix we supplied Russia during WWII.

They can’t be located because they already have been and most are destroyed.

“Sounds like they might be using radio emissions to lock in on locations. The Russians are good at radio direction finding.”

HIMARS is 100% digital. All the info for a fire mission is sent via burst transmission lasting milliseconds

LOL! Right up there with “We will not invade Ukraine” and their bunker busting bombing of the Mariupol Drama Theater which killed an estimated 600 civilians which the Russians claimed was actually ammo stored by Ukrainian forces exploding and the smell of death from the ruins was actually fish stored in the basement.

Or that their warship sunk in the Black Sea by Ukrainian anti ship missiles was actually of a fire in the galley when the cook burnt some scrambled eggs! LOL!

Now this: “The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on the alleged destruction of the HIMARS MLRS, which, according to the Russian military, were located on the second floor of the power plant building.

They also said that they were able to destroy 27 HIMARS MLRS installations over the past two weeks.

Everything would be fine, but according to open information, there are now only about ten HIMARS installations in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”
