When Democrats identify a superstar in their midst they push them to the front of the line even if they haven’t completed their first term in office yet. Our braintrust says that it’s more important that they finish their second term as governor. SMH

Where’s the urgency? How much worse does it need to get out here?

These same people will turn on DeSantis in a second.

Watch reruns of 90s sitcoms, movies, in addition to the NYT. People who have been well established trump hating leftist celebs. They’re full of Trump, Trump airplanes, the trump tower cameos of trump

People believe that these people turned on trump because of his personality, they’re naive.

If you think the people pushing DeSantis now are conservatives who wouldn’t turn on DeSantis as soon as he announces, you’re not paying attention

I am certainly not a “Never Trumper”. I don’t even care about his “warts”. Best President of my lifetime.

“Looked at the replies to your post. Only one gratuitously offensive one, no. 10. “

...I didn’t think that was offensive, I thought the poster was trying to be funny... and succeeding!

PS how do we tell DeSantis from a future Insect Overlord, I’m wondering? Wikipedia says this: “In June 2019, DeSantis signed a measure that would make it harder to launch successful ballot initiatives. “ ...looks like he’s IO material to me...

Alternatively, Ron could get a condo in Savannah or Pascagoula. Why should Trump move?

I think DeSantis would be better placed as Attorney General in a Trump administration.

DeSantis would be wasted in the VP position. Let DeSantis finish his second term as Governor of Florida and then become Trump's AG in 2026. Then, DeSantis can run for President in 2028.

If President Trump wanted a VP who won't be a threat to DeSantis in 2028, let him run with Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Abbott is DeSantis-lite, but he would not only bring Texas (not in doubt, actually), but would also potentially bring the disabled vote to the ticket. I think Abbott would do well in the mostly ceremonial responsibilities of a VP.

If Republicans have a seat-to-give in the Senate in 2024, perhaps President Trump could nominate someone like Ted Cruz to be his Attorney General. Cruz could then run for Governor of Texas in 2026, vacating the AG position to open it up for DeSantis when he finishes his second Gubernatorial term in Florida.

Well, call me old fashioned, but I think our society has become crude enough, and the metaphorical suggestion that one gets sexual pleasure from not supporting Trump running again strikes me as just plain unfunny but, more to the point, not reasoned argument

I get the reference to “Insect Overlord,” but it’s application to DeSantis in this context is incoherent. Below is footnote 70 to the article you cited. If, in fact, his signing the law was calculated to prevent out of state interests from hijacking and corrupting the ballot initiative process, then I’d be all for it. The process is seriously out of control here in CA, and I’d be all in favor of reform

These articles are nothing but liberals trying to split the republican support away from Trump. DeSantis will probably be president some day, but not 2024.

Thank you. Trump could easily change his official residence. The problem with that is he would be showing his hand before he is ready to.

What kind of non-sequitur was that?

I’m addressing the fact you present 2 examples, that are opinion pieces, that one of them is a Republican (cannot read the restricted sites so can’t find out about the other).

This is not a good example that “leftists” are pretending they like Desantis, or are even treating him well.

Hint: they are not treating him well.

As to your comment that didn’t tie it - we KNOW that liberals never like the Republican and turn on him when he becomes the opponent to their commie. It happened with McCain And Romney, and many before that. What are you saying that is news? That if they are nice to a Repub, it’s because the cndidate is a RINO?

They always hate Repubs. That doesn’t change.

“Pence, Cheney, Christie”

I suspect you’re right in that these three will be running.

DeSantis? Maybe. Regardless ... my guess is DeSantis ends up as Trump’s VP this go around unless he ticks off Trump somehow.

Trump AND DeSantis, not Trump OR DeSantis in 2024,

Trump doesn't need DeSantis on the ticket to win in 2024 and DeSantis doesn't need to be Trump's VP to win in 2028.

If Trump runs then DeSantis will stay in Florida and prep for 2028. If Trump doesn't run then DeSantis will and it will be a crowded primary.

The NYT and the WaPo will never allow pro trump publications and certainly not opinion pieces.

Yet they allow endorsements of DeSantis

That’s the answer.

If DeSantis is governor of Florida doesn't he actually have to live there?

Four more years of Trump then eight years of DeSantis.

“If, in fact, his signing the law was calculated to prevent out of state interests from hijacking and corrupting the ballot initiative process, then I’d be all for it.”

Well, with all due respect, I suspect that those who claim to be concerned about out of state interests hijacking and corrupting the process are inventing false demons. If a gun manufacturer (based, say, in New York State, as I think Remington is) wants a ballot initiative in California to make it easier to buy AR-15s is that necessarily wrong? If the evil, evil Russians, for some reason, want us to have a rule of law process, and support our actually bringing the accused to trial, instead of getting them all to plead out, is there something wrong with that? This is not corrupting or hijacking any so called process, this is free speech - which we claim to support, or (I think) should. In my opinion, of course...

I don’t know anything about the law except the article I gave you the link to. What I will say is that, here in CA, the referendum process is a disaster. The airways are saturated with millions of dollars in fake ads by groups like the teachers and nurses’ unions, promising that many will die, women and children hardest hit, etc if their desired outdone is not achieved. The Secretary of State and Attorney General are in on the act, serving up misleading budget tiles and summaries.

My only point is the referendum process is subject to corruption and I’m willing to give DeSantis the benefit of the doubt as to the stated reasons. In any event I don’t see it as an issue on which ones support of lack there of should turn
