Actually I’m surprised it’s not a higher number. My primary bird food has gone from $20 to $28, lunch for two at Wendy’s from $11 to $18, my favorite bacon up $2 a pound, etc. Currently there are four of us residing in a family property. I consider us to be above average in income yet we have cut back on the quantity of food purchased and, in some cases, switched to cheaper store brands if quality is comparable to name brands. Food prices alone are not the cause of cutbacks. Have you tried pricing a 20 pound tank of propane lately? I pity those with 500 gallon tanks awaiting their refills as colder weather arrives. And what about utilities? Has anyone seen the magical cheap electricity that is to provide clean energy? Heck, for the most part, we can’t even generate enough reliable electricity to meet current demands. Here in the mountains I expect to see a lot more wood smoke in fall. That is, unless the EPA tries to cut down emissions again from wood stoves.
Walmart doesn't raise their prices for on line shopping like most other stores and the annual delivery fee is reasonable.
For us older folks (78), here in Upstate NY...delivery is a real blessing.
Fee/cost wise....Walmart is the best option in my area.
There are already fireplace “burn code” requirements around us. If it’s cold enough folks ignore them.
Electric prices in NH are set to go up significantly tomorrow.
We are stocking up on wood and watching fuel oil and propane prices and trying to catch them before they shoot up.
I suspect, and this is just speculation, that fuel prices will continue to drop for a while until the election. The democrats will want to be able to take credit for the lower prices to garner votes, and enough idiots will believe them.
In the meantime, the longer we go before the prices go up, the more we can fill up at the lower prices. It will probably be put last shot at decent prices for a long time.
