Makes perfect sense. A very minor activist group gives $500 (Wow! That much? ROFL) to help organize protests, and other minor, inconsequential political activities and it gets banner headlines RUSSIA INVOLVED IN INFLUENCING ELECTIONS! And CNN and MSNBC get their fodder.
