Some in GOP 'very concerned about the damage' Trump does if he launches 2024 bid before midterms: Hogan

Some Republicans "are very concerned" about Donald Trump potentially launching a 2024 presidential bid before November's midterm races, which could upend contests across the country, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said Sunday.

"We had discussions about that at the Republican Governors Association last week," Hogan told ABC "This Week" co-anchor Jonathan Karl of a possible Trump announcement, which Trump has repeatedly teased.

"I think most people are very concerned about the damage it does to the party if he announces now," said Hogan, one of Trump's loudest GOP critics. "And it may help in very red states or very red districts. But in competitive places and purple battlefields, it's going to cost us seats if he were to do that."

Karl asked Hogan about the House Jan. 6 committee hearings this summer, which most recently detailed Trump's inaction responding to last year's Capitol riot. Hogan contrasted that with his own decisions that day as a leader of a neighboring state.

"While the president was watching television and while the vice president [Mike Pence] was being whisked off to save his life and members of Congress, I was on the phone with the leaders of Congress. I was calling up the National Guard. I was sending in the Maryland State Police," he said.

Hogan said the lack of response to the hearings from many leading Republicans was "disappointing," especially in light of how they criticized Trump immediately after the Capitol attack. He said that the most striking part of the last hearing was watching outtakes from an address that Trump recorded on Jan. 7, 2021, the day after the insurrection.

BS. They’re just worried Trump will suck all the oxygen out of the room.....ie Conservatives will donate to Trump’s PAC instead of the RINO PAC. That means people like Murkowski, the remaining 10 and other RINOs won’t have money to fight real MAGA candidates in the primaries.

Nice to ABC’s concerns for the welfare of the Republican Party.

Only ones concerned are the anti-Trumpers and RINOs (and perhaps Neocons, not sure), such as yourself HoganIdiot.

Then again, “some Republicans” aren’t Republicans.

“Some Republicans “are very concerned” about Donald Trump potentially launching a 2024 presidential bid before November’s midterm races, which could upend contests across the country, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said Sunday.”

And most Republicans want their country back and know Donald Trump is the answer. We don’t need a politician running the country. We need a businessman who understands the economy, foreign affairs, cultural norms and people.

Trump will do what he thinks best. At the end of the day which is more important? The 2022 election or the 2024 election?

Hogan was term limited. His chosen successor lost the primary.

All this handwringing Hogan and his fellow RINOs are doing about Trump hurting the party in the midterms tells you that it kills them the President is 147-10 in endorsements. They would sooner cut off their johnsons as do anything that would make him look good and, horrors, be seen as the driving force behind taking back Congress. Hogan is signaling that the GOPe are going to do their usual snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and only support establishment scum like Murkowski and Cheney while they ignore most of the Trump-endosed candidates hoping they will lose so then Trump can be blamed for the defeat.

The GOPe have never forgotten how bad it was for them when Ronald Reagan wrecked their good times being the loyal doormats to their RAT betters and brought in all those nasty conservatives. The thought of a horde of filthy MAGA types coming in led by a President they despise even more than Reagan to take over Congress is worse than when someone wore white after Labor Day to Muffy's chardonnay tasting at the country club.

Funny. They got Donald’s birthday wrong. I thought he was born the day BEFORE yesterday. Whether or not he runs at all will depend on how the GOP does in the mid-terms. That’s why he’s traveling the country boosting candidates he likes and trash-talking those he doesn’t, while only hinting at his plans for 2024, to put heart into his deplorables. If the base doesn’t get energized over a hope that he runs, and deliver a red tsunami, then he ought not to run. But by everything I’ve seen in his recent rallies, the base is pumped! We’ll see on election day how real that is.

Trump was SO HORRIBLE in 2016 that he only managed to win the White House, and he was SO HORRIBLE in 2020 that it took thousands of ballot stuffers to stop him then.

“ABC and Larry Hogan work hand in hand.”

The head of the RGA is included in that hand job as well.
