“Most are burned out or wiped out. Scared or tired."
“I suppose it’s not the story people want to hear, but the gap between how the war is shown in the media and the reality of the place is kind of ridiculous,” said Sam, the 23 year-old volunteer from the UK.
“The lack of training and organization… Outside of shrapnel injuries, most of the injuries were related to friendly fire.”
“Probably more than half the injuries are friendly fire,” confirmed Steve, an American who has been volunteering as a military and medical trainer since February.
“I fought in the Middle East and Africa, and I’ve never seen this level of corruption.
“Front line troops who had three days’ of training... sent out with one rifle between a few guys and given 120 rounds of ammunition. I’ve trained over 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers, and I’d guess at least half are dead.”
“Absolutely everything—Javelin missiles, other missiles, vehicles, rifles, ammunition, grenades—all of it has been stolen.”
“My group is purchasing our weapons from a large volunteer group. That volunteer group, which is not from a Western country, stole the weapons that it’s selling to us and other groups from the military aid coming into Ukraine.”
A number of Western volunteers have joined Ukrainian nationalist battalions, among them groups affiliated with the Right Sector, Azov, and Carpathian Sich.
“When I was around Kiev and we trained a far right Azov group. And there we saw lots of Swastikas and Nazi symbols,” said Steve, the American military and medical trainer.
“Yeah, it bothers me that there are neo-Nazis here,” said Shaun, the Canadian volunteer. “But it’s not in my face, so I just try not to think about it.”

This website is run by an independent war journalist who recently covered the war in Armenia & Azerbaijan, but travelled to Ukraine to conduct interviews for this article.
They chose.... poorly. I look forward to reading about their horrible experiences LOL!
There are no Nancies in Ukraine! They’ve retracted all of the articles and documentaries over the years when they used to say there were! I’ve seen it! Even Israel says so!!!
“ Probably more than half the injuries are friendly fire”
They’ll shoot at anything that moves. Foolish to get involved in another country
nice job dehumanizing the Russians. Shameful.
Grade A propaganda. Tweaked and perfected.
““I have a chance to kill some Russians.” Interviews with foreign volunteers in Ukraine”
Just glad the Russians don’t think the same way about us, or we would have been glassified by now.
> Grade A propaganda. Tweaked and perfected. <
How can you possibly say that? After all, the article quotes some guy named Sam. And another guy named Steve.
What more do you want?
Maybe he can travel to Moscow and ask why then is the war not won.
I thought this was going to be a thread about Group Bench W, maybe it is.
Whatever is going on in Ukraine, this sure isn’t going like we thought it would the first week of the attack, when we were all certain there would be no substantive, effective opposition to the world super power, Russia.
Maybe I rated it too high.
“They’ll shoot at anything that moves...”
That’s what you do in combat. You are in position waiting for the enemy to attack, you are on edge, looking at the landscape in front of you for any sign. A bush moves and I guarantee you every GI empties his clip on it.
Or be killed by Russians. Go for it. Hope all works out like you planned. As far as I hear from others doing the same, is that they are used as fodder, period. See, Zelenskyy really does not care about you anymore than he does his own citizens. Because he is a one world government devotee.
I actually think that we need to support Ukraine by sending Antifa volunteers to fight the Russians. I’d donate to pay for their airfare.
Yeah it is all fun and games....
Until they realize that it gives Russians a chance to kill them.
Then they go AWOL and beg for transportation back home.
Those volunteers will ultimately end up like the other ‘volunteers,’ captured, killed or leaving to return home with traumatic PTSD from the incessant Russian artillery shelling. Bet.
If the enemy is in range, so are you. Having “the chance to kill Russians” means that you are giving the Russians the “chance to kill you.”
