Mayor London Breed vetoed legislation that would have eliminated single-family zoning in San Francisco to allow fourplexes everywhere and six-unit homes on all corner lots.
In her veto letter Thursday, Breed wrote that it was with “great disappointment” that she rejected the law, but argued that new requirements and financial barriers added by supervisors “will make it even less likely for new housing to be built under the ordinance’s provisions” than under current state law.
“While I support the original intent of the ordinance to add new desperately needed housing options for San Franciscans struggling with the high cost of housing, especially for our middle-income families, after many amendments, this ordinance no longer achieves the goal intended to actually produce more housing,” she said. “Instead, it is fair to say that this ordinance, as amended, will set back housing production.”

“...allow fourplexes everywhere and six-unit homes on all corner lots.”
Yes, that is a more just arrangement.
Yes, that is a more just arrangement.
For Newsome foursomes?
Good job, Mayor Breed. Keep it up, try and stay sane
What rational decent person would want to invest money, build just about anything or live within San Francisco?
Is Breed a breeder?
Xe History?
Not just San Francisco but California overall.
The headline says the bill would have eliminated single family zoning.
The excerpt says the bill would have allowed four and six family units.
Which is it?
“Which is it?”
Both.
Arrange the whole thing by letter writing. Asked my family for their phone number but they never sent it. Thought that was weird.
Get to their house and it's a mansion!!!
So I knock on the door, some woman answers the door and takes me up 3 flights of stairs to my relative's apartment. It was about the size of my current living room.
A bedroom, a bathroom with a toilet and a sink and a living room/ kitchen/ kid's bedroom. Shower was down the hall and the phone was on the first floor.
Later went to their son's place. He was the vice-president of a bank and his wife was a kindergarten teacher. Their apartment was smaller than mine as a student!!!
Coming to America
A pretty tough job for her.
Who knows, but with a name like that, I thought she was a hill Billy from the Appalachian region. 😀😃😂
Think of the carnage when the next quake hits. SF is sinking and as a city will eventually die. It has run out of living space in a severe earthquake zone. Overrun with feces, drugs, and the “X”-poxes, the place will be abandoned if a quake destroys it. Scenic like the caldera of a supervolcano that is known as Yellowstone.
She tried to spring her hoodlum brother from prison .
The guy was convicted of kidnapping , attempted Murder , and theft .
Just Another good boy .
She is a beyotch.
Unfortunately, you can check in any time you like but you can never leave. (The majority of those who seem to leave are actually California Zombies, whose brains have been consumed by the State and go on to do the standard Zombie stuff in other states).
Welcome to Hotel California. Such a lovely place.
It would make no sense to construct a law that way. If single family units are eliminated, and four and six family units are allowed, then what about two, three, five family units, etc.?
Either the bill was written by morons, or (more likely) the article was.
Sounds like “Doctor Zhivago”.
The mayor should reconsider. Single family zoning has restricted the housing supply and thereby driven up housing costs. It is not designed to deter nuisances, where, for example, an owner is trying to convert his residential neighborhood house into a carry-out restaurant.
