Desantis is NOT going to go up against Trump.
Mitch is right, there will be quite a number of third tier candidates announcing for 2024 but the second tier, like Abbott and DeSantis will sit this one out. The third stringers will get their names in there for some campaign cash from the never-trumpers and the name recognition with an eye toward 2028. Not certain who Trump would pick for VP but that person would have a leg up for 2028 when I think the odds will favor DeSantis unless he seriously challenges Trump in 2024. His laugh pad for 2028 is based in Florida, not Washington.
