I was floored today when I accidentally stopped on MSNBC and they were showing a public official (police, I think) praising the kid's heroism. Of course, the opinion shows later in the evening are unlikely to repeat it.

Well, butane isn’t exactly an explosive any more than any flammable gas in a pressurized can could explode under certain circumstances. Police speculate he was trying to start a fire. Perhaps to further destroy the laptop.
Good thing he was able to stop the guy with just ten rounds, cause “high capacity clips” are no bueno.

attorney guy Relford has been retained by Elisha Dicken the 22-year-old who stopped the greenwood Park Mall shooter yesterday. Guy is also a radio personality with WIBC radio Indianapolis. I believe his office is in Carmel Indiana

Simon malls have a “no firearms” policy that the Greenwood hero apparently ignored. However, IN does not have a law that criminalizes the act of ignoring a “no guns” policy on private property. So this issue has no effect on the outcome of this case - justified is justified.

Today I spoke with family of Elisjsha Dicken’s girlfriend.
The couple was at Greenwood Park Mall when a gunman opened fire in the food court.
Eli told her to get down, pulled a pistol and shot the suspect.
“I’m so proud of what he’s done. He saved my granddaughter.”

In states like Florida those signs are meaningless. You don’t have to comply.
The her probably only had one clip of 10, thank God the guy was taken out!! I hope this 22 year old young man doesn’t have any problems over killing someone that has to be hard regardless of the circumstances!!
Knowing that he likely saved numerous lives should overwhelm the feeling he has from taking one.
There would be no purpose carrying if the gun was not used to defend and save lives. He did the right thing. It is gutsy sometimes to do the right thing.
I’m beginning to wonder if theses shootings are all instigated by the left. It just to coincidental that these type of shootings have increased in frequency while the DemonRats are trying to push through gun-confiscation legislation.
They don’t want to show it because it encourages other good samaritans. They want to get away from this one until Schumer and Mitch gets another more friendly narrative to demand our weapons.
Look at all they have shown from Uvalde, and then boom, here come the commie Democrats and traitor GOP politicians.
Not if you have a CCW. That is what we do the first time we enter a business. If no sign, good. If there is a “No Firearms” sign, gun goes into a lock box in the car. My wife & other family members have been told that a No Firearms sign means the business owner assumes responsibility for my safety and if anything happens to me while in his premises, sue his arse off
