US President Joe Biden sought to use his first Middle East tour in office to reassert Washington's influence but emerged without a single diplomatic breakthrough, an outcome analysts said was no surprise.
On issues ranging from energy prices to human rights and Israel's role in the region, Biden could point only to small -- if any -- gains after four whirlwind days of meetings and speeches.
Driving the point home, as Air Force One flew back to Washington Saturday evening, Biden's Saudi hosts downplayed one of the trip's few concrete announcements: their lifting of airspace restrictions on flights to and from Israel, which Biden himself had earlier hailed as "a big deal".
There's little question the moves announced during Biden's trip were "modest", as Brian Katulis of the Middle East Institute in Washington put it, though he added that some represent "positive signs of perhaps something bigger to come".
"They won't remake the region overnight, and there is so much more work ahead by actors in the region to achieve the full potential of these first steps," Katulis said.
Far harsher reviews came from human rights activists aghast at Biden's final stop in Saudi Arabia, a country he once vowed to make a "pariah" over abuses like the 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
No oil boost
...
After his bilateral meetings..., Biden said he was "doing all I can" to increase oil supply
...
The following day, at a summit of the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council plus Egypt, Iraq and Jordan, oil "wasn't really a subject", Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan told a press conference.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's pledge to boost production capacity to 13 million barrels per day was actually first announced in May, and is not meant to become reality until 2027.

WOW!
I see a Nobel Peace Prize for PINO Biden after this break thru.
That’s a lie! We have our own oil, but the fool won’t let us use it.
Now there's a positive spin. If it was Trump it would read Trump fails miserably...
We know who is responsible for the disdain and neglect of the American people.
Good thing Joey Crappy Pants didn’t break through his diaper. The stain on the presidency would be a bit embarrassing
It’s stunning to watch world leaders treat Biden like their aides in a nursing home directing him where to go, where to sit or stand. ...and he’s obviously dependent on them clearly - like a patient in a nursing home.
Bidens body language and how he walks into a room or greets people reminds me so vividly how a family member with Dementia behaved when taken to see people. She wasn’t at all aware of who she was meeting but fully laughed and enjoyed being with people. They would not have recognized she was ill - as she moved about from one to another.
The real story was not divulged and is in fact secret
The meeting in Jeddah was a council of defense/war

I’m so glad you posted those photos.
For many in fact most here, the events in Jeddah are trivial or not worth noticing.
The symbolism presented in the two photos show us here but most importantly to all in the whole world, the disdainful view of the Arab and Israeli players towards trivial Joe Biden and very important Donald Trump
Lucidity eludes Biden, at home and abroad.
Brilliant. I have not seen the Saudis pour so much love on anyone than they did on Trump, and for a good reason. He stopped Iran in its tracks.
