Interesting choice of words...Trump card.
Not much interest in the motivations of the killer.
No mention of the motivation for the assassination, or who helped with the motivation.
If the perp was doing Japan’s Deep State’s dirty work, that would explain the lack of curiosity.
I don't know about MIT's Samuels, but have ZERO faith in our academic experts when it comes to international relations.
I’m wondering if Japan’s Deep State is about to form an aliance with the ChiComs...
Behind nearly every major assassination are the fingerprints of the global deep state.
There’s information out there about motivations. Start with Japan Times and go from there:

For every “saber rattling” movement made by the CCP in the Sino-Pacific theater, there is a Japanese submarine nearby and monitoring the movement; locked on target.
Hey Ymani...I’ve said CCP could make a move on Taiwan before the this November.
October comes before November.
Could this be one of those “Hunt for Red October” moments?
Future proves the past.
Taiwan may not the only country in the ChiComs’ crosshairs.
The CCP is on quite a roll.
The Solomons. NZ. Australia...
Is Japan next?
Will Japan’s Deep State hand over their country to the ChiComs without the ChiComs having to fire a shot...
it was a personal vendetta
A conservative and nationalist Japan (Abe) was a firewall between the CCP and any moves on Taiwan.
Since the nationalists have won the election, we should wait to see the policy outcome.
Much hinged on Abe’s relationship with Trump.
Now, we are rightly concerned about the relationship between Xao Bai Den and the new Premier.
Go flush yourselves!
It’s going to be an eventful autumn that’s for sure. Time for a Godzilla movie.
Abe was not really interested in economic issues, says Columbia University’s Gerald Curtis, the doyen of American experts on Japanese politics. “I met with him many, many times,” Curtis told Toyo Keizai. “What he was really interested in was having Japan play a bigger role on the world stage and being a big player himself.”
Interesting thought.
Not sure Japan has a deep state like the one we have.
Ours is illegal, but no one wants to talk about that.
The Supreme Court is beginning to hint at it.
The next 6 months will be very interesting to those who look closely to this stuff.
My gut tells me, ChiComs did this.
It should be a wakeup call for Japan.
My take on the present is that China has internal problems that put an invasion of Taiwan on the shelf for the time being.
Further, there are many navies now present in the South China Sea to chew China invasion efforts to literal shreds
