If he had just added, “ Who like to dress in drag”, He would have been laudy da lauded.
He wrote, “The Post Office is closed today for some made-up holiday that I never heard of? Just when is the ‘Old Fat White Man Day’? I really want to celebrate this day.”
It used to be that joking about a privileged minority got you canned.
Now it’s things that honor privileged minorities. Words painted on a street. A statue representing a privileged minority. That’ll get you fired now.
Surely the statue couldn’t have been offended!
Symbolism over substance as Rush used to say (thanks, Rush!)
PUH-LEEZE. I'll let them know what I think if my wife and I attend this year...
That and given that WNC is becoming gentrified, I am also sure these local movers and shakers know which side their bread is buttered.
Seems like this is the jumpteenth time this has happened!
‘Juneteenth should be marked as the day Republican troops under the command of a Republican president freed the last of the slaves held captive by Democrats.’
Which Republican president commanded troops on June 19, 1865?
Trick question. Andrew Johnson was a racist Democrat.
i’m ok with Old Fat White Man Day.
we must fight back. he shouldn’t resign
Belated acknowledgement of prior months’ Emancipation Proclamation where slaves ONLY in rebelling states were declared ‘free.’
HISTORY: Not all slaves were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation, nor via Juneteenth. Only the slaves of the REBEL states were freed then. Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was a wartime effort to split and weaken the South; he did NOT free any slaves in the Northern states. Slaves in the non-rebelling border states had to wait for the 13th Amendment, effective December 18, 1865.
