Biden calls for eliminating the filibuster to codify Roe v. Wade
The SC said abortion could not be established as a Federal judicial matter. It said it’s establishment was a state legislative matter without explicitly ruling on whether the Federal congress could legislate it into existence. Seems to me, if the Federal congress does so, the SC will have to respond to that issue when the Fed law is challenged as beyond the jurisdiction.
I can smell their desperation since they KNOW they are going to lose BIG in November!

The problem is if it ever goes to a vote, many Rinos may very well vote for abortion. Soft Republicans - there are many - want this issue to go away forever so that their club is not constantly roiled.
All Republicans say “read my lips”, but when it comes time to vote you never know what they will sign up for.
It’s always been the job of congress to make abortion legal. Toe vs Wade was never more than a SC ruling and never a law. How many times in the past have people run for congress promising to make this a law and they never did? Voters should be protesting in front of their representatives house, not the SC houses. All the SC did was punt this back to the people and the states.

I'm sure some Freepers are aware of the site called Nextdoor.com. I get notifications whenever anyone in my "neighborhood" posts. I live in NY (NY-1), so we just had a primary on Tuesday. Yesterday, there were several posts by leftists about how they switched their party affiliation just before voting, in an attempt to skew the Republican primaries. Their efforts were in vain, of course -- NY has closed primaries for state-level and congressional election, and while you may certainly switch party affiliation, it must be done months in advance of the primaries. But the attempt exposed their willingness to cheat, as well as their total lack of scruples.
So what? Joe Manchin has not called for it.
