One major change over the last 100+ years is that a military pedigree was considered essential among the leaders of this country back then — in both politics AND business. That hasn’t been the case in years. There’s no reason to take the military seriously anymore in a nation that is run by draft dodgers and an assortment of clowns and @ssholes.

Disagree. The USA would do well with a big forward deployed Marine Corp and a huge 1,000 ship Navy. We need a teeny tiny standing army with a sole mission of border control.
