A Louisiana judge issued a temporary restraining order Monday against the state from enforcing its ban on abortions, leading to the immediate resumption of the procedure.
Orleans Parish Civil District Court Judge Robin Giarrusso granted the request of plaintiffs Hope Medical Group For Women and Medical Students for Choice.
The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday overturned Roe v. Wade, which for nearly 50 years had granted women the constitutional right to an abortion.
Providers in Louisiana had stopped performing abortions on Friday, unsure of the legality of the practice due to the vagueness of the bill, according to reproductive rights groups.
“Louisiana’s court made the right call today to swiftly block this unjust ban from taking effect," according to statement by Jenny Ma, senior staff attorney fo the Center for Reproductive Rights, which filed the lawsuit on behalf of the paintiffs.

I’m going to guess the reason it’s temporarily blocked is because they may think it’s too vague to have teeth etc. There are times when a law is so poorly written that it really can’t be enforced because it is too vague. For all we know that maybe what’s going on here.
Kind of like gerrymandering, feds can’t do anything about it on the federal level. But the states can do their own thing. If the judges in a state abuses their powers by legislating from the bench, they should be impeached by the state legislature.
I opt for Billie Jean King but same difference.
That judge can’t do that! Her ruling should be ignored by the State.
Oh my god ! I read the headline in the forums, and before clicking on it was thinking of writing that EXACT post.
Headline should read,
Ignoring the SC, Judge Halts Ban on Baby Murder.
The state legislature passed the law. They can IMPEACH this week, hold trial next week and remove her from the bench after conviction. Only the. Will the rule of law return.
The judge has a friend in the Governors office.
I’m sure Kemp is hoping for the same if/when the Georgia legislature presents its bill. And that is a big IF.
I’m sure Hollywood will threaten to leave which most of Georgia would love to happen but Kemp and his cronies will do anything to keep. Gotta keep those Benjamin’s flowing.
Let the Legislature impeach. Simple.
One of her friends should tell her she looks stupid with that red lipstick.
> abortion provider should be immediately arrested
Nothing stopping anyone except being frozen in moral ambiguity and fear.
The Dems will have no choice but to start a second civil war over this if they want to continue transitioning us to a global feudalistic government.
Or just impeached by the legislature or recalled by the people, if he was elected.
That’ll shut him up pretty quick.
Unjust for who? The unborn child, that's who!
This becomes an issue between the judge and the legislature.
> “temporary”
Except for the babies killed in the interim.
I think the executive branch has a lot more guys with guns than the judges. Go arrest the abortionist.
It’s a state court and a state law. I expect an avalanche of similar rulings. They will all end up in the Supreme Court of each state. There will probably also be a bunch of state constitutional amendments put on the ballot.
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people."
NO.
as in NO.
There is no such "right" for this warped legislation from the bench, only a privilege to get votes.
Facilitated the murder of millions of preborn babies for years.
