It can't happen here. Right? Exclusive: Patrice Lewis warns people to pay attention to red flags

As a former wildlife biologist, I have a fascination with animal behavior. One of the lessons I've learned during my time observing wildlife is how attuned animals are to situational awareness and "red flags." In the kill-or-be-killed crucible of nature, to ignore a potential threat may be the last thing an animal ever does.

Yet people have developed the astounding ability to totally ignore red flags because "it can't happen here" (or "it can't happen to me"). Modern humans living in a modern society with modern conveniences have been able to bury the situational awareness all creatures possess by instinct. Americans in particular have cultivated an amazing ability to disregard warning signs, both internal and external. We still have the instincts, but we're often too "civilized" to pay attention to them. After all, it can't happen to me. It can't happen here.

With this in mind, let's discuss the normalcy bias, shall we? Wikipedia defines this as a mental state which "causes people to underestimate both the possibility of a disaster occurring and its possible effects." It's sometimes called the "It can't happen here" syndrome. The assumption is that since a particular disaster has never occurred before, it never will. Any disturbing indications that something bad may happen are dismissed or trivialized.

But ever since 2020 when governments across the entire globe united to forcibly lock down their populations, we've been veering into unknown territory. Or is it so unknown? Vaccine passports ("You're papers, please"), supply-chain disruptions, shortages of everything from fertilizer to baby formula, war in Europe, horrific weather extremes, electrical grid issues, civil tensions, riots, crop failures, avian flu, inflation, domestic terrorism from abortion radicals, diesel shortages …

On a side note: what is to keep me from accusing my angry neighbor as a red flag? Am I reading this red flag business correctly? I could turn in anyone, correct?

That's right - or a person's whose politics you don't like. And if like today one party has privilege and the other doesn't it can be a way to disarm traditional Americans without due process. (to disarm Republicans)

The communists have decided to go ahead with this bullchit but I suspect that if the court remains pretty much as it is, these Red Flag laws will be dealt with down the road.

The sooner we get this to the Courts the better. Democrats want to take down the Supreme Court - we're skating on this ice... the difference between them packing it or not is based on what? Two people?

“The SC tore Red Flag laws apart last year Caniglia v Strom.”

Looks like you’re correct.

Yes they have. Bottom line is the greatest threat to citizens of the US is government controlled by democrats at any level.

Do “red flag” laws mean being able to face your accuser?

-- Red flag law deny due process. --

Courts will uphold them as long as it is a court that issues the order. That's the way it is in maine, courts issue the order.

The same court system will not judge itself to have violated due process. No way. Courts decide what is enough, and it's not much. Same with standard of proof.

Read the case. Caniglia v. Strom

Short version, no court was involved. No warrant, no nothing. Firearms seized anyway. It's a 4th amendment case, not a "red flag" case.

Not necessarily. That constitution requirement (which is routinely flouted by courts, there are "exceptions") applies only when there is jeopardy of being convicted of a crime.

😂 You so funny. No doubt the flagger will be ID’d to the flagee. Oh, and antifa will be prosecuted just like 1/6ers.

You’re right - that’s the logic.

Still, taking away due process is a ‘no-no’ and should be taken to the Supreme Court. Of course our guys need to find a great and sympathetic case... which will happen because there’s lots of potential for over-reach here.

I want to get on the record as reporting, right now, a dangerous individual in San Francisco named Paul Pelosi, who should not be allowed to own guns.

He has shown a tendency to reckless behavior that resulted in his brother's death. He was recently arrested for drunk driving that could have resulted in multiple deaths. He has manipulated the justice system to avoid prosecution for the above, as well as other dangerous behaviors.

Someone needs to take away any guns he has, as well as the guns of any bodyguards so that he can't seize one of them and act out any further.

IMHO the federal government must crash the cryptocurrency before they install their own. Next. They’ll crash the dollar and make everything electronic. It’s real easy to track electronic transfers that’s why they need an extra 89K IRS agents.
