'A woman will have to bear her rapist's child': The liberal SCOTUS justices' blunt dissent to opinion overturning Roe [aol]

On Friday, when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision establishing a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion, the three Democratic appointees — Justices Stephen Breyer, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor — wrote a forthright response casting the majority’s decision as a blow to women’s civil rights.

“With sorrow — for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection — we dissent,” they wrote.

“Today, the Court … says that from the very moment of fertilization, a woman has no rights to speak of,” they continued. “A State can force her to bring a pregnancy to term, even at the steepest personal and familial costs.”

Citing laws that have already been passed in more conservative states and would now take effect, they warned of dire consequences in states that will now be free to ban abortion without exceptions for rape or incest, or when bringing a pregnancy to term risks the mother’s health.

In all this “rape pregnancy” talk, is the rapist ever pursued, indicted, prosecuted and jailed? I never hear that happening. It’s just a convenient hypothetical.

What happened to due process? Doesn't the child get a say?

Democracy is a woman a doctor and an unborn child deciding who should die.

“...if the child is aborted...”

Interesting use of the passive voice.

If they're not ready to have children, keep it zippered. If a man is man enough to breed them, then he's man enough to feed them

AMEN! Free reign by men is a huge problem. It is easy to say a woman should keep her legs closed, which she should, but letting a man off the hook for coercion is not right either.

I know. This ruling doesn’t make abortion illegal, it just makes it a state’s rights issue. There are still states that will allow it, and abortions will still occur.

Juneteenth is the holiday celebrating, when the Republicans freed the slaves from their evil Slave Master Owners, aka Elite Democrats/The KKK.

Then, on 24 June 2022, the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade!

Abortion kills 1,000 black babies every day in America. Abortion is not just a woman’s issue. It’s a human rights issue.

Abortion is the number one killer of black lives in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, abortion kills more black people than HIV, homicide, diabetes, accident, cancer, and heart disease … combined.

In 2019, black women had 38.4% of all abortions in the U.S., despite African-Americans comprising only 12.4% of the total population.

In Michigan, black women make up only about 14% of Michigan’s female population, but they had 55.4% of all abortions reported in the state in 2020.*

These liberal legislating justices sound like they are making speeches from the well of a legislature than authoring a legal opinion based on the existing law. Paraphrasing Justice Scalia when it came to judging legislation that he deemed constitutional that he did not agree with from a policy perspective, it’s not my job to fix stupid. That’s why you have legislatures,

Yep! Turds of the first class!

Quite honestly, these turds care nothing about womens rights! Hell, they can’t even define what a woman is! They care nothing about uniting America! They care nothing about drugs, gangs, or murders! They care nothing about racism.

All that these turds care about is to stay in perpetual power. They are the turds that float through the sewer of Washington DC!!!

“A woman will have to bear her rapist’s child.”
My daughter did, and that pregnancy started as twins. But within a month of deciding to keep the babies, one of them simply stopped developing. The remaining baby is now 13 and smart as a whip. Did I mention my daughter was already a divorced mother of two when she became pregnant with twins?
Did I mention she was my surprise, unplanned pregnancy?
Grow up and have the baby, girls. There is NO Constitutional right to petulance and immaturity.
Unprotected sex without consequences is not an entitlement.

So the rapist gets a light sentence, but the baby gets the death penalty.

And women will be raped because leftists don’t believe in punishing criminals by locking them up.

While abortion is an emotional issue both for those in favor and those opposed, in my opinion the importance of the Court’s recent decision goes well beyond that hot button issue. Instead, it meets head-on the real problem - a gradual encroachment by the federal government, under the guise of judicial review, into social, cultural, political and economic issues well beyond the purview of the Constitution. While Roe, Casey and other decisions are known and debated, the real damage done by the Court is the countless lesser decisions that erode our system of federalism with its supposed emphasis on the limited rights of the central government and the broader rights of the States. As I see it, the Court’s abortion decision, along with the recent Second Amendment decision, are important not simply for the subject matter addressed but as a sign that slowly the power of the federal government is being rolled back.

Frankly, it’s not the baby’s fault.

Many people have been products of rape. It doesn’t make it horrible for them or the moms, once she has it.
