Venture Global LNG Inc. has struck the first binding deals by a U.S. natural-gas exporter to supply natural gas to a German company, as the European nation turns to America to help replace supplies from Russia.

On Tuesday, Venture Global said it agreed to sell 1.5 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas a year in two separate 20-year deals with German energy company EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, starting in 2026. Half of the amount will come from Venture’s Plaquemines LNG facility under construction in Louisiana, while the other half will come from another proposed facility in that state, it said.

Mike Sabel, Venture Global’s chief executive, said the agreements were “an important step that manifests Germany’s strategy to diversify its energy mix.”

These long term contracts allow more LNG export facilities to be built.

Energy markets are being remade. Oh, and more jobs for Louisiana.

It will be interesting to see if the US can even supply gas (starting in 2026, by the way), considering our freeze on new federal leases.

Most energy is produced on private land.

“Whether it is oil production or natural gas production, output on Non-Federal lands (state and private) has consistently been significantly higher than output on Federal lands, despite the federal government owning much more mineral estate.”

Didn’t a LNG plant just recently blow up in the US?

Perhaps...still don’t see how we expand with one hand tied behind our back.

That's my question. Is this being done without increasing capacity to serve US domestic needs?

I suspect I'm asking a rhetorical question.

“..Perhaps...still don’t see how we expand with one hand tied behind our back...”

We take our free hand and “cut the rope” binding our other hand. Then, we beat the ever-living shite out of the woke morons that tied us up to begin with.....that’s how.

LNG is only 4 or 5 times the price of piped natgas.

When people start getting their natgas bills in October and November, and realize that we're giving gas to Europe and raising OUR prices here, the Mitt will hit the fan.

Politicians will have to run to keep ahead of the mob.

Just checked my last natgas bill - 15 bucks more for the same amount of gas as last year, same month.

The Short Bus Biden Tax.

I've read that state and federal governments subsidize the oil and gas industry to the tune of about $20 billion annually. Additionally, about 20% of U.S. oil producers do so on federal lands.

If so, should we be allowing resources owned (federal lands) and subsidized by the people of the United States to be sold on the global market? By dong so, does our government and oil industry rob us by inflating the price of a commodity through the global market?

No matter when it takes effect gas bills this winter will be thru the roof and this will add to the costs. Future investments will be applied to this years costs as they always are. Propane has doubled in cost if not more from what i have heard. These executive orders by biden clearly have an adverse effect on it all even more than any war has had so far. It is time they were challenged in the courts in a more aggressive manner.

Post 13 says Freeport LNG in Texas.

Philly area would probably have been in Marcus Hook.
I would definitely have heard about that…I think.
