A giant Afro hair pick with a clenched "black power" fist was unveiled in New Orleans on Friday in celebration of Juneteenth โ the holiday paying tribute to the last American slaves being freed. However, the eyebrow-raising statue was widely panned online.

I believe the people in charge are also partaking in some pretty heavy drugs
The origin of the giant comb may actually go back to ancient Africa—but of course in those days it was wood.
Of course in those days some African tribes enslaved members of other African tribes, but you are not supposed to know about that.
Just an excuse to piss away 7 mill of taxpayer money....Lord only knows where that money really went.
One thing for sure...when it comes to money blacks aren’t sometimes the most fiscally responsible....if you know what mean.....I’ve seen it over and over.
The black culture has contributed much to improve the world.
I can think of a few things.. Jazz music..and a couple other things.
A hundred years from now some disgruntled leftists group will tear it down.
Only thing missing was the big blow up bottle of afro sheen next to the pick.
Yes,a giant electric hair clipper would be a better symbol to honor white people.
You never know, some enterprising Cajun from the bayou might throw a noose over it....wouldn’t THAT be interesting
No doubt—but the problem is that if black culture ruled the planet we would all be living in primitive conditions and poverty—and slavery would make a comeback with blacks the masters and everybody else their slave.
“Lord only knows where that money really went.”
Whores and blow.
Thanks for asking!
What exactly is โBlack Powerโ? If it means the freedom to be the best in character, deeds, achievements through diligent endeavors and noble service to others then All power to it. If it means to play the victim card, decry racism in everything and perpetuate violent actions on society and on each other then the hell with it.
I find THIS statue to be offensive.
Someone ought to tear it down!
Quite a contrast of cultures in that photo. It’s not mere chance that this was placed directly across the street from Gallier Hall, with its Ionic columns and bas-relief sculpture. It’s quite literally shaking a fist at western civilization.
New Orleans tore down historic statue after statue...then they put up a statue of a hair pick?
Freed slaves reacted with joy, thanks, gratitude to God and celebration to the news of their freedom. They didnโt stick their fist to the sky.
And perhaps ironically, the slaves in New Orleans weren’t freed by the Emancipation Proclamation since the Union was in control of N.O. when the E.P. took effect.
Yeah but a inspirational Rap song would be the National anthem.
That’s the progress part of progressivism...
God bless CC and its vanilla suburbs.
