I do remember gas lines. I worked in a high rise building at the time and would check out the nearby gas station lines from my office window on the 8th floor and when I saw the lines get down to 3-4 cars I would haul ass over to the station to get gas. It was nuts.
What you describe is much much worse. No gas. Nada. Dry. Lets hope and pray it doesn’t come to that.

One thing that might help gas prices in the immediate short term is to be able to buy it on odd and even days based on the last digit on the license plate.(if the plate ends with a letter or is all letters, the the letter that corresponds with its numerical place in the alpha bet). Interstate travelers could have had extra tanks they carry for emergency use.
After several weeks of adjustment, you’d begin to see the day by day upward pressure on prices begin to diminish. More oil could be diverted into making diesel more available to bring those diesel prices down as trucks are the real sinews of interstate trade in the nation.
We have been forced to it, to economically fight these bastards...but the only way to fight it is to reduce consumption to only the basics but to do it so hard and catastrophically that the bastards making money on our inflated misery are suddenly caught with their shorts down. Imagine those bastard speculator traders trying to deal with pools of oil they bought at 120 a barrel not being able to resell it because there is little buying of gas at 5 or 6 dollars a gallon. They would have to drop their prices.
I’m waiting for the EBT protests to start soon when even the ebt people can’t buy anything cheaply anymore and they start agitating for higher ebt allotments that the taxpayers can’t afford any more; indeed many such taxpayers becoming former taxpayers also needing ebt cards as we crater into massive depression. Clove-Pliven won’t go the way the liberal bastards imagined with massive populations suffering from a kind of political stockholm syndrome who will turn to the very socialists that created their miseries to provide them for their very substance without having to work very hard for it.
