'It seems now it's our turn to get our lands back': Smirking Putin threatens Sweden and compares himself to tyrant Peter The Great while issuing chilling threat to Scandinavia

Vladimir Putin has compared himself to Russian tyrant Peter the Great as he bragged about 'reclaiming' land in Sweden in a chilling new threat to European security.

Putin, speaking on the 350th anniversary of Tsar Peter's birth, referenced the Great Northern war which saw an anti-Sweden coalition - led by Moscow - smash the Swedish empire and establish Russia as a new imperial power in Europe.

'It seemed [Peter] was fighting with Sweden and seizing territories,' Putin told his audience, a smirk on his face, as he spoke about the founding of St Petersburg on land once held by Sweden. 'He wasn't seizing anything! He was taking them back!'

Referencing the Battle of Narva, the opening battle of the war which took place in modern-day Estonia, he continued: 'Why did he go there? He went there to take it back and to strengthen it, that's what he was doing

'It has fallen to us to take back and strengthen. And if we take these values as fundamental to our existence, we will prevail in the issues we are facing.'

Putin's veiled threat comes amid fears that he will launch war in the Baltics - Estonia, Sweden and Finland included - once he is finished in Ukraine.

“Silly me. And I thought that it was Russia who started this war with their invasion.”

You have to look at what started the civil war in Ukraine, before Russia had to start cleaning up the country.

There was no civil war in Ukraine until Russians arrived and astroturfed it. Every country has Quislings who cheer on enemies who threaten nuclear war. Some even post on conservative websites.

The civil war was started after

1. Yanukovych abandoned an EU FTA deal that almost all Ukrainian politicians from all parties including his own had supported, and had been working on for six months. Although Putin denies it, there’s strong evidence of Russian pressure being a factor.

2. Yanokovych signed a private deal with Putin on 17th December 2013 that effectively handed the finances of Ukraine over to Moscow. In total violation of Ukraine’s Constitution (such deals must be ratified by their Rada), and in violation of the Budapest Memorandum.

3. As a consequence of the backlash and violent protests, a spate of resignations including by the prime minister brought the government down.

4. In accordance with the constitution, Yanukovych agreed to a process to install a caretaker government pending elections. 24 hours later he abandoned his post and turned up in Russia.

5. While in Russia, Yanukovych green-lit Russian engagement in Crimea and ordered Ukraine’s forces to stand aside.

Remind me... what’s the correct process in the event that a POTUS is judged to have been irretrievably compromised, imprisoned, or under coercion AND the result is American forces being told to ignore a hostile military invasion?

I don’t think its emergency break glass process would be “wait six months for a constitutional debate to issue its report and then maybe hold some primaries”.

So fir entirely defensible reasons, point 5 motivated the Rada to vote in a significant majority to remove their absentee president from office before he did something even more seditious.

Although this wasn’t entirely in line with the Constitution Ukraine could hardly allow Yanukovych to continue issuing orders enabling Russian forces while tying the hands of Ukrainian troops, from his prison/palace in Moscow.

Naturally this resulted in civil war between separatists and the loyalists.

“The Åland islands are a Swedish-speaking part of Finland that sit at the mouth of the Bay of Bothnia”,

Swedish could overtake Finnish as the national language of Finland.

Yes, and if you actually do look at it, that was instigated by Russia.

Putin is still just the tyrant he has made himself out to be for decades.

I have never been more unimpressed with a store than when I walked through an IKEA. I could not figure out at all why that place was such a big deal to some people.

Kadyrov is on video saying, “Poland is next”.

Last week I looked at the map, The distance from Chechnya to Donetsk (Donbas) is only 498 miles. I was surprised Chechnya is so close to Ukraine.

It is the age gap. Young people and young couples love IKEA and the ambience. They love the 2020 style furniture and whatever else they have there, and the reasonable prices, I have been in IKEA only once. I bought nothing except 2 frozen food items and a hot plate of their Swedish meatballs in the eating area. The meatballs were good.

I have zero desire to return.

Yes, the meatballs were good - they were giving out free samples as I walked through.

As far as the furniture, you can find better stuff at Big Lots!

“You have to look at what started the 2022 civil war in the US, before China had to invade the US to “clean up” and protect the abused Chinese citizens living here and clean up all the globalist corruption. After all, if a country has elites who are corrupt, they deserve to be invaded and it’s like totally justified, man”

Yeah that line of thought is so rational. But you’d probablybe A-OK hunky dory with that.

You are so full of cr-p it’s not even funny.

Thank you for listing what actually happened there with all the details. Yanukovych was a Russian puppet. THIS ⬆️ is the truth, not the lies being put forth by Russia and some on this forum.

And it isn’t like this was hidden information - this has been known for some time.

If Russia goes for Sweden and Finland, it will be time for
Europe to step up and get involved.

The Ukraine was sacrificed, but if Putin starts going after
more peaceful nations, f-him.

Everyone worrying about NAZIs in the Ukraine, don’t seem to
be worried about the one in Moscow.
