UPDATE!!!
Jim’s doctor called Chris and asked if he would like to have the VA’s palliative “quality of life” people to contact him to discuss aggressiveness of treatment, home nursing assistance, etc.
Doctor also said that Jim is experiencing some delirium. but she was able to get him back in focus.
Chris told her yes so now he is just waiting to hear from them.
These will be tough days ahead waiting to see which direction the sepsis infection turns. Hopefully the antibiotics will be effective. I think he should get all the care at home that he can possibly get. Sunshine if possible…and fresh air. One day at a time. God, I’m praying every day.
UPDATE!
I spoke on the phone with a doctor from palliative care today. We’re going to have a meeting, in dad’s presence, tomorrow at 10am. He explained to me today the difference between palliative and hospice care, and that we have been on a life-prolonging treatment strategy. I’m going to tell him tomorrow, “Yes, let’s keep it a life-prolonging strategy.”
Thank you for the update.

Oh my.......prayers
Thank you, yes, I’ve been praying if being at home with nursing care could be an option that would work for the family. Mostly, may Jim be comfortable, may the boys be comforted, and may God let them all know how much good they have done for America, for the world, in fact, and for countless individuals.
Bless you, Amy, for keeping us all updated on Jim. I am worried sick, and I know you are as well. Although, if the VA feels it is safe for him to go home with a nurse to care for him, that is encouraging news. I think all patients do better at home.
Chris, Amy says you’ve been doing a great job advocating for your dad. Bless you for your diligence in dealing with the people at the VA hospital. Hang in there!
Jim, I hope you can feel all the love and good wishes coming from everyone. I am praying for you. Stay strong, fearless leader! 🙏🤗
Thanks JustAmy.
