Families from across Florida and other states gathered at the Florida Parent-Educators Association (FPEA) 34th convention this past Memorial Day weekend to share knowledge, inspiration, and support for home education. From infants to grandparents, generations of families attended the conference, which offered lectures, an extensive list of exhibitors, and activities including a prom and graduation ceremony. Homeschooling across the state is on the rise, with data from the Florida Department of Education showing a 9.10% increase from the 2018/2019 school year to the 2019/2020 school year. This number tripled with a 35.17% increase in home education students across Florida for the 2020/2021 school year.
Likewise, data from the School District of Palm Beach County shows a 7.76% increase in home education students from 2019-to 2020, which more than tripled from 2020 through June 2021 with a 26.76% increase of home education students. At the start of the 2021/2022 school year, Palm Beach County School District defied the Governor, State Education Department, and Dr. Ladapo by mandating masks on students instead of allowing parental choice. A battle the School District of Palm Beach County ultimately lost by November.

These are good stats on the increase in homeschooling. Hopefully one day a majority of children are educated at home. Homeschooling is a two-edged sword. On one side you get well educated children, on the other you deal a blow to leftist indoctrination and so-called educators. When the there is a clear and indisputable voting block of homeschooling families we can demand education tax dollars go directly to parents. That will be the death blow to leftist educators. They will be sent to the unemployment line as government schools are shuttered.
A great convention it is. I attended when second granddaughter was graduated. They do a state-wide graduation ceremony for any kids that want to avail of it. Some have graduations with home cooperative programs.
This should lead to lower property taxes for everyone, also.
Turn those schools over to companies that actually PRODUCE SOMETHING and will pay taxes in the future.
My wife homeschooled our kids until Jr. High. For the folks worried about the WEF Agenda, this created a problem. The WEF wants remote education/homeschooling. To provide the exact same education for all kids across the globe. I suspect a large part of covid lockdowns was to see where remote schooling needs work. Ditto for remote working. Also a part of WEF Agenda.
Home is a lot safer for the kids than sending them to a publik skool. Call it an act of protecting our kids.
Homeschooling was always the best, with excellent results.
But nowadays it’s a MUST!!!!
We did it for our offspring: all the way through high school, pulled them out of elementary school early...
totally worth it.
And FPEA is a great organization. The convention is totally worth the time and money.
couple more comments:
hslda.org is a must-join organization. they help people with any LEGAL problems they might have with homeschooling and it is not much money.
also, when we visit the local homeschool co-ops every year for the past few (all of our wee ones are graduated already!), there are MANY MANY MANY more black and hispanic parents abandoning the moronic public school system and joining Christian homeschool groups.
Very good to see.
My Son & family attended this convention and enjoyed it. They’ve been homeschooling for years. Our other son’s kids were homeschooled until moving to Israel where they attend a Christian school. They also did a lot of homeschooling during Covid b/c schools were shut down.
Our kids told me when they were in HS, graduating, that they wished I’d homeschooled them through 8th grade, then put them in public school. We’d actually discussed it, but my husband was a guidance counselor and felt it didn’t look good for him to keep his kids home, so we sent them, but there were many times we had second thoughts about it.
Today, if my kids were little, I’d be homeschooling. PERIOD! No ifs ands or buts about it. Too much is at stake to give them over to a Marxist-based, anti-god, anti-family, amoral system whose whole purpose is to distance your kids from your values, and your influence. I know good people who feel that you teach your kids what is right and they’ll learn to deal with the bad, but they need a solid foundation to do that. 5 years old (and even younger) is not time to build a solid foundation. It just isn’t!
Kurt Cameron just released a documentary on homeschooling. He claims it is the single best decision he made for his family.
