According to a criminal complaint, three sex assault charges have been filed against a former Two Rivers High School teacher who admitted to having sex with a pupil.
Rebecca Kilps has been charged with three counts of felony sexual assault on a student by school personnel.
A school social worker phoned a detective on May 23 after receiving information regarding a pupil having a relationship with a teacher.
The detective received a call on May 24 from Rebecca Kilps’ husband, who said he had suspicions and had checked his wife’s phone while she was sleeping. He discovered texts in which Rebecca and the victim were “talking about a future together and stating they love each other.” He went up to her and challenged her. She stated that it was a student and that they had been friends before saying “I love you” and “talking sexually.”
The 17-year-old victim told the investigator that things had “gone too far” and that things had “gone terrible.” He described how he began taking her Freshman Spanish class and continued to do so over the years. He began hanging out in her classroom after school during his junior year. They began exchanging private messages. Things “escalated” in March, he added, and “we talked more and said things we shouldn’t have.”
The victim said they had sex twice at Kilps’ home.

If he made up his mind that he was divorcing her over it, it was a smart decision to involve the law.
Sad to see that we have so-called conservatives defending a teacher’s adulterous affair with a student. The fact that some men think the idea of sex with an attractive teacher is exciting is precisely why there are rules against it. If that taboo is broken, you invite chaos, like that scene in the Kentucky high school last years when teachers and students were simulating sex acts in the school’s gym. It’s the same reason why breaking the taboo on premarital sex led to crisis pregnancies, millions of abortions, the breakdown of the family, and single-parent families with absent fathers.

The age math dosen’t work. She knew him for 3 years so she started teaching at 19?
He didn’t have to talk and play victim.
Yeh, hubby probably found a way to get a favorable divorce settlement and kid should have kept quiet.

There are grown women who are attracted to high-school boys for some reason. A girl I went to high school with kept dating 18-year-old high school boys well into her 20s.
I’d go back for Christmas and she’d always show up at parties with some baked, surfer-type high-school senior in tow.
I never understood it.

My point is that 17 is not the same as 10. I would vote for long-term imprisonment for actual pedophilia.

The older women who go after high-school boys seem to prefer the athletic types, guys who wouldn't give them a look when they we in high school.
Why are the boys giving them a look now? Because she has a car, her own place to have sex in, has gotten over her high-school shyness and insecurity, and is ready to give him all the sex he wants.

Before 17. She was over 30 and he was a freshman when she started grooming him.
