The bottom line in the Texas shooting is that the gun is irrelevant. That nut job would have killed those kids even if all he had was a revolver. He had 45-60 minutes free reign inside the classroom against totally helpless children and teachers. He did not have to rush. If the entrance door had remained closed and locked (as it was supposed to be) he likely never would have gotten inside the building in the first place. We spend all kinds of money to secure these schools and some careless teacher negates the whole perimeter security concept by propping a door open.

In New Jersey, Gov. Phil Murphy (D) has pressed for similar changes in his state.

“I introduced the comprehensive Gun Safety 3.0 package over a year ago and this moment demands that the Legislature finally take action,” he said, adding that the “proposed laws are hardly revolutionary.”

“They would mandate safe storage of guns. They would ensure that those seeking to buy a gun are actually trained in the safe handling of that gun,“ Murphy said. “They would give police tools to better track the paths of firearms used to commit crimes. They would prohibit the sale of weapons that can bring down helicopters.”

The package of reform policies would also raise the minimum age to purchase long guns to 21, ban .50 caliber firearms and close the loophole (how is that a "loophole"? What if you're moving to NJ, and own guns in your current state? How does this stop a bad guy?)for importing out-of-state firearms, the governor’s office said.

I believe these governors should tread carefully with the pending SCOTUS ruling in the NY Rifle & Pistol Association case. If it proceeds from Part 2 of the Cruikshank ruling you quoted, they really won’t have any way to craft regulations or laws that go beyond the current set.

"WTF is common sense gun laws? How demented"

Common sense gun control as defined by the rabid liberals
is to completely strip legally owned firearms from US citizens.

“WTF is common sense gun laws? How demented.”

No idea, but it doesn’t matter. California already has the most restrictive and stringent gun laws on the books, but Newsom and the perpetual virtue signaling jackasses in the Clifornia legislature will enact more worthless laws in an effort to solidify their bona fides as members of the woke brigade.

Insanity reigns supreme on the Left Coast.

They tried to ban .50 caliber and larger firearms in New Jersey some years ago until they realized that it would have banned the muskets used by Revolutionary War reenactors ( who generally carry .69-.75 weapons). NJ has several large re-enactments every year with thousands of spectators.

The blue states make gun laws that get vacated by courts in three years.

Democrats researched how to describe infringements on the right to bear arms and found “common sense” tested well. All the proposed restrictions will be as ineffective as the other 25,000 laws on the books. The best response to “common sense” is “futile” as long as criminals and the insane are allowed to roam free.

Democrats should drop the pretense and just propose making guns illegal and order us to turn them in. Just do it.

"WTF is common sense gun laws?"

That means only our ruler and his minions can have guns...
Serfs, absolutely not...

Do away with the schools and make the kids go online.
Let the teachers find new jobs.

Democratic Govs. Gavin Newsom (Calif.), Kathy Hochul (N.Y) and Phil Murphy (N.J.). AP photos/Eric Risberg-Mary Altaffer-Wayne Parry Three Democratic-led states — California, New York and New Jersey — have pressed forward with gun reform legislation in the wake of the deadly shooting in Uvalde, Texas that left 19 children and two adults dead.

And you can tell what these leftists really think about the safety of children by looking at their abortion laws.

All this hand wringing over those 19 slaughtered children is pure theatrics.

And that body count is just the collateral damage necessary to sway public opinion on gun control.

All three states suck already. They will just suck more with more draconian gun laws that never work.

“…commonsense gun safety laws that will protect people from gun violence.”

What foaming at the mouth killer will respect these laws? Moron.

Dem controlled states will keep passing laws that infringe on 2A in hopes that one day they will have a stacked SCOTUS that will uphold their laws.

I demand commonsense murder laws and articulate politicians to explain how they will work.

Won’t work. Criminals ignore laws, even new ones.

Of course, it will work.

Gun Control is not about preventing crimes. It is about controlling people. Specifically, it is about disarming law-abiding peasants such that they cannot even imagine resisting orders from the Rulers.

Criminals are allies of the Rulers who are used to keep the population terrorized and submissive.

Criminals will always be able to obtain firearms, and as long as they confine their predations to the "right" people, they will be allowed to continue them.

It will work just fine. It’s not about stopping mass shootings. It’s about slicing away the right of self defense one law at a time.

How do any of those three States have room for more “common-sense gun laws”? Haven’t they already passed pretty much all of them?
