Not believing some of the replys here. You have a shooter holed up in a room with a rifle pointed at the door, without a shield how do you enter without being immediately killed. Bunch of keyboard commandos for sure.would anyone here enter a door knowing it would be instant death?
you telling me this classroom had no windows? Assault through windows and door at the same time - use some basic tactics and guts - overwhelm the bastard. Once you have more than 2 armed responders, any delay in going right after the bastard is more cowardice and/or a complete failure to understand the situation.
We all get that this was a very dangerous situation. But the police must DO SOMETHING in incidents like this. It is simply unacceptable for them to just stand around while children are being slaughtered.
Send in five police dogs at once. Fire a volley of flash grenades through a window. Create a distraction at the door, then breach a window. Do something. My goodness. Don’t cops train for incidents like this? Don’t they have some sort of plan, besides letting innocents die?
Room full of kids? Without question.
I’m not afraid of dying, however the idea of being a regretful cowardly piece of shit does inspire a lot of fear.
” without a shield how do you enter without being immediately killed”
How about bust a window and throw some tear gas in there? Can’t aim a rifle at the door very well if you can’t see.
Start with the rooms he's not in; evacuate the teachers and children to a safer area while a sniper sets up outside the classroom.
Heroine Angeli Rose Gomez drove 40 miles to the school, got handcuffed and then released, jumped a fence, ran into the school, grabbed her two children and got them out.
She proved she didn't need specialized training, a firearm, body armor, a ballistic shield, "intel", nor a tacti-clown team. The other law enforcement who got their own children out proved the same.
Just because you are a coward doesn’t mean that men like the ones who stormed the beaches of Iwo Jima and Normandy are all dead. I know that there are brave men and women still out there. One woman jumped the fence and rescued her own daughter, not knowing who or what she might encounter.
From a thousand miles away, it looks like this community, its school system and police agencies were totally unprepared for this disaster which, by the way, was the work of the devil.
Now the lives of hundreds in this small community have been devastated forever. This is about as bad as it gets short of a nuclear exchange.
Every community has to get better training and tactics for such an event. Some communities have a good start already; in other communities liberals are opposed to school safety, or think school safety is just free condoms.
Every policeman needs to have an honest conversation with himself and ask: Do I have what it takes to be in this line of very dangerous work? There is no shame in leaving the force and pursuing a different career.
Know what’s worst than keyboard commandos?
Keystone kops!
At least keyboard commandos don’t suck up taxpayer’s money.

Thank you for some balance.
Classrooms have windows... :|
He would either be pointing the gun at the door or at the 10-year-olds. He could not do both at once. Plus, how much you wanna bet that classroom had windows?
But that's why there are small-unit tactics. They are not rocket science, nor magic. Thousands of Handfuls of US men have worked out impromptu manuvers under fire on the battlefield for hundreds of years.
What we are seeing is typical government bureaucratic stasis. "Get home safe!"
Yeah, such a quandary. Simply mind boggling. Only one way into a school that is comprised of several single story buildings with windows, doors and a/c vents but somehow the only point of entry to save 600 kids is that one door. And not one sharp shooter in the bunch to end it while he’s focused on that one door.
Any LEO should know how to stack and enter a room. Having flash bangs would be nice, but not required. I could teach you how to do this any number of ways in a short period of time. Would you be proficient at it, no, but you’d defiantly know the steps and be able to help in a situation exactly like this.
Having said that, these guys should have learned all this at the academy. It’s basic stuff.
Entering doesn’t mean certain death at all if you know what you’re doing and are wearing the proper gear. You think our warfighters carry ballistic shields everywhere they go?
I think you need to know your audience. There are a lot of actual commandos on FR...
