Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey called for an end to gun violence in the wake of a mass shooting that left 19 students and two teachers dead in his hometown of Uvalde, Texas.
The “Dallas Buyers Club” actor posted a statement on Instagram on Tuesday urging Americans to ask themselves "what small sacrifices can we individually take today, to preserve a healthier and safer nation, state, and neighborhood tomorrow?” following reports of a mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in his hometown.
"As you all are aware, there was another mass shooting today, this time in my hometown of Uvalde, Texas. Once again, we have tragically proven that we are failing to be responsible for the rights our freedoms grant us," McConaughey's statement began.

"We cannot exhale once again, make excuses, and accept these tragic realities as the status quo," he continued.
McConaughey said it's time to "re-evaluate, and renegotiate our wants from our needs" and "rearrange our values" to find common ground to change the "devastating American reality that has tragically become our children’s issue."
“This is an epidemic we can control, and whichever side of the aisle we may stand on, we all know we can do better. We must do better. Action must be taken so that no parent has to experience what the parents in Uvalde and the others before them have endured,” he added.

That’s what I thought. Sounds like he’s calling for gun control without actually saying it.
It’s not a bad statement but it’s not coherent. Anyway, at least it’s genuine.
We know how to stop this but our feckless government doesn’t want it.

Should have been the speech Biden gave, and more likely the one a president would give. I assume he goes on to say nothing about gun control.

I was confused on his message, not sure what he was trying to say. It seemed vague to me.

In a way, sounding like Geraldo without demanding that 18 year olds should not be able to buy a gun.
He was one of the few white guys in school. The 5 largest ethnic groups in Uvalde, TX are White (Hispanic) (78.2%), White (Non-Hispanic) (14%), Other (Hispanic) (4.18%), Asian (Non-Hispanic) (1.37%), and Black or African American (Hispanic) (0.508%).
It was the “DO SOMETHING” message. Usually those messages come with a stupid solution. Like “We must do SOMETHING to solve this crisis, so we will airlift 18 pallets of baby formula in!”
This was a “DO SOMETHING” message in its purest form.
I didn’t do anything.

The purpose of the left is war on God, war on morality, war on life and liberty, war on America, and global totalitarianism government.
I am personally for the full exercise of 2-A, and an old Swiss/Israeli type idea of everyone being trained to use guns.
HOWEVER, WHAT WE MUST GRAPPLE WITH —
When guns get into the hands of the left which is at war with God, war on morality, war on life and liberty, war on America, and seeks for America to be replaced with global totalitarianism government, and the natural ranks are filled with narcissists and sociopaths, the only possible outcome is mass death.
Immorality and liberty don’t mix, and will always result in mass violence and totalitarianism — period.
Who is “we”? I ain’t the problem.
Lockdown schools. Only one way to get in past an armed guard who watches entry thru bullet proof glass and who must buzz everyone in.
Nationwide carry of firearms by adults, including at schools.
Any armed intruder who starts shooting at a school gets shot instantly. No waiting for police.
Schools are now a free-fire zone for lunatic murderers.
We know exactly how to stop this.
