The trial of Michael Sussmann began another week on Monday, with more witnesses being called as Special Counsel John Durham continues to build his case against the former Hillary Clinton lawyer.
Sussmann is charged with lying to the FBI, something he allegedly did when he hid who he was working for while sharing the now-debunked Alfa-Bank story. That disinformation campaign, which was meant to falsely assert Donald Trump was colluding with the Russians during the 2016 election, has now been directly tied to Hillary Clinton during the trial after it was revealed that she approved its dissemination.
But apparently, Sussmann and Hillary Clinton by proxy weren’t the only ones lying. According to documents presented by Durham, the FBI lied about the Alfa Bank smear’s provenance, telling agents it had come from the DOJ. In reality, Sussmann had brought it directly to the FBI, with the leadership being aware of its origins as badly done political opposition research.

I am of the view that the FBI legal counsel, Jim Baker, led the FBI agents into believing the matter came down from the DOJ.

Isn’t this exactly what Sussmann is being prosecuted for?
It’s disgraceful that the Democrat machine knew in advance that they could make false claims about a Presidential candidate, a sitting President and make his entire 4 years as a President and that any info of such false claims would come out maybe 5 years later and get away with it because they knew the FBI would cover and do the work for them.
This should have all come out under Mueller.

I doubt Durham cares about convicting Sussmann as much as he wants to use the trial to expose bigger targets.
I dob't think you grasp the full situation. The GOP establishment including Jeb Bush and McCain STARTED it, in collusion with MI6 (that's why Robert Hannigan resigned after Trump took over).
After it became apparent Trump's win of the nomination was unstoppable, they handed the dossier project over to Hillary.
The email records don’t support that. Contemporaneous meeting notes and other real evidence show the FBI second-tier guy whose name I forget (something like Bruce?) got the word from his wife who worked at Fusion GPS that this was coming before it was done. Obummer and Byethen may have colluded on the inception, and the FIBbers jumped aboard early.
